So we go again Tomorrow night away at Stevenage. Its gonna stay dry till then so shouldnt be a problem with the game going ahead or not. I see Mr D'Urso is ref so always an intersting one. If all have come through without knocks we have to go with the same starting line up as Saturday, its a no brainer really i would think Wonder if Boro will make room in their side for Mousinho
I think Barrett needs to be rested tbh. He looked extremely tired in the last 20 mins against Vale albeit he was defending for his life. I think it would be wise to put Davies in for this one just so the captain gets a rest. And if Davies performs excellently and we play him for the rest of the season then so be it
On Saturday I was confident of beating Vale at home (except the last 10 minutes) yet Stevenage away leaves me feeling uneasy, all the stats and form books should make this an easy victory and maybe that's the problem. Over the last month we've won against Wolves, Swindon, Vale, we've also come close against leaders Brentford, yet threw it away at Colchester, now is the time to show we have really turned a corner and come home with all three points. For me it needs to be the same team starting as Saturday after what was our best 70 minutes of the season.
in fact the bookies are making stevange clear favourites at about 6-5 with us showing 5-2 so loosing wouldnt be throwing it away so to speak. . a win here would be an good achievement!
I agree that Barrett needs a rest, he's played every minute of every game this season! But I can't see it happening at all, captain is never dropped!
I was very worried about the game against Port Vale on Saturday, the previous season both teams were going for promotion and The League Two Title and with Port Vale in ninth and Gillingham in a low mid table position in League One I thought we might see a flat performance to go along with a flat atmosphere. (thankfully that was not the case and we won 3 - 2, just such a shame about the final fifteen / twenty minutes though) Home games against Swindon and Wolves do not need any team talks as the motivation will be there from the start, and that brings me nicely on to tomorrow's match against Stevenage, whenever we are expected to win we seem to put in dire performances (both games against Brackley Town and Notts County away are prime examples of this) and that is why I am worried about the game tomorrow night, I am hoping we do pick up all three points and move eleven points clear of the relegation zone but it won't be easy against a Stevenage Side battling to stay in League One and they will treat every league game like a cup final between now and the end of the season. I will be going to the game tomorrow night, had to book on Kings Ferry as Pam has not got enough people to run a coach to Stevenage, yet everyone is so enthusiastic to go to Carlisle on Saturday, four points from the next two away games and I will be delighted.
I agree with your feelings completely FoM. Tomorrow's match is the kind we usually balls up. I really hope I'm wrong. Every match has to be own, you have to compete, we won't just be given the 3 points. Hopefully (as previously stated by FoM) our previous disasters against Brackley and Notts County will be a reminder as to what happens if we turn up expecting to win.
If any Gills side, ever, in our history, has turned up at an away match expecting to win I would be gobsmacked!! We don't do away matches. Not easily anyway. Besides, have we had consecutive wins at all this season?
Does anyone know of anywhere decent to park? Other than the nightmare of a main car park they have which I've unfortunately experienced before.
Think the Crewe & MK Dons wins were back to back but that's it i would think Good piece on the game and Mousinho from their gaffer here http://www.theadvertisergroup.co.uk...rience-the-key-for-Westley-20140203150802.htm
SirKeefy, We had 2 league games in November I think Carlisle and Sheffield United, there was however a cup game squeezed in-between which was a draw. At least D'Urso is no longer the ref, yeeaaa, it's now Attwell, Aaaaaaaaargh.
I think Gillingham will line up as follows....................... --------------------------Nelson----------------------------------- Hewitt---------Legge-----------------Barrett----------------Martin --------------Gregory----------------Linganzi--------------------- Harriman------------------------------------------------------Dack -------------McDonald---------------Akinfenwa--------------------- Subs: Baxter (GK), Davies, Hessenthaler, Smith, Weston, ***an, Pigott I cannot see Gillingham making any changes to the team that started the game against Port Vale, the only possible change I can see is Craig ***an for Adebayo Akinfenwa because Akinfenwa struggles to play two games in four days, but I would rather see the big man start tonight after his Man Of The Match Performance against Port Vale on Saturday. This game getting called off on New Year's Day has done us a massive favour, we were able to prepare for the game against Wolves and get a massive win on The 3rd of January, the signings of Elliott Hewitt, Connor Smith, Gary Borrowdale and Joe Pigott have seen Gillingham strengthen the squad and we also don't have Andy D'Urso as referee tonight. But I am still nervous about the match tonight because when Gillingham are expected to win we tend to put in dire performances, our season can be summed up by losing to Notts County 3 - 1 at Meadow Lane and yet we beat Wolves at home, and Gillingham's last five games have been WLWLW - Those three wins have come at home and I like to see Gills break that sequence tonight.
I agree with your Team FOM.The Team played really well with this starting Line up for 60 odd minutes on Saturday,so it would be best to keep that same Lineup. This is a big game against a relegation rival.Hopefully we can edge the game and win,or atleast get something from the game.A couple of defeats could put ua back in the relegation mix.
I bet you're happy with the line up tonight brb, with most of the younsters playing, especially Davies. I'm going to stick my neck out here (it 15 minutes from ko) and forecast a disaster. Hope I'm wrong but I think stevenage will be too experienced for us.
Davies starts. HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However Linganzi misses through injury. Typical just starting to show the form he has got in his locker and he picks up a knock!
Starting Lineup: Nelson (C), Hewitt, Legge, Davies, Martin, Dack, Hessenthaler, Gregory, Smith, Bayo, Cody Subs: Baxter (new keeper), Barrett, Harriman, Weston, Lee, ***an, Pigott.
Thank god we played the youngsters Oh wait what a surprise! Why hasn't harriman come on to replace hewitt?? How many goals do we concede it is getting beyond a joke. Come on the miracle 2nd hand comeback!
