Modding Notice - Crossroads

I'm avoiding commenting on the modding on here as it's none of my business, but just a few on the technical side:

We can check the IPs, but it's not an exact science. There's an IP that I share with Mick (the site owner) and 4 other posters that all support other teams.

Unless there's a site issue where we have to ask admin to do something to activate an account we don't need to approve new users. What we do need to approve are certain posts new users make. If they include quotes, links, images (or anything that uses those square brackets) or include key words (I don't have a list, but generally common words in spam) then the site automatically blocks them until a mod approves them. It's only about 10 posts they need to make before it lets them do it without.

Banning IPs does next to nothing of use. At last count I had almost 300 IPs linked to my account, and I don't do anything artificial to make it change (obviously I have different providers at home and in Hull). What it does lead to is issues for innocent users (anyone been blocked from coming on through their mobile?) as there are a lot of shared IP addresses. It's not just the obvious like schools, work places, and universities, or public wifi. There are very few IP addresses when we check them that are unique to one account, despite us knowing in most cases the accounts aren't connected to each other.

As for the emails, it's a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. I only have hotmail and gmail accounts available to me. I presumably have an ISP provided one, but despite being pretty good when it comes to all this stuff and being virtual OCD about keeping track of my accounts for things I have no idea what it is or how to find out without ringing them up. I really couldn't be arsed to find out just to join a site. There's going to be a lot of other people in this situation of not even knowing their ISP account as it becomes more and more common to have all your accounts for things linked on your phone. Who wants to change email address when they change ISP when they've got their facebook, their twitter, their snapchat, their lovefilm/netflix, and their google play (or Apple Store) account all connected to it along with all their banks and utilities and anything else they can think of. Uni even gave us all an email account, and the first thing we all did was set up redirects so that we got them to our normal accounts.

As a general point on Andy King's Crown Jewels, he's not too bad but I'll grant you he does take a lot of getting used to. While we were in the Championship with them it was quite heavy between us for various reasons on and off pitch. He was banned for quite a while, and it was a struggle with some of ours when he was unbanned but he's sort of accepted now. (There's the odd comment from one or two, but nothing like it was)

The rules are there to be applied, agreed by everyone who want's to post on this forum.

Mods, apply the rules at your discretion. Don't waste anymore of your spare time, the intention of the rules was to ease the moderation. Go to town with the perpetrators.

The critical question emerging from this is who is the third man Flyer has on ignore in addition to Swords and me? Obviously an exclusive club, I'm having ties made up, wouldn't want the mystery man to miss out.

I should have spoken up earlier. My position is very simple, the vast majority of us agreed to the rules a few months back. I have no personal reason to question them. Any bickering that goes on, however, doesn't affect me or bother me. The col/swords thing, for example, doesn't/didn't upset me, annoy me, stop me reading the thread. If anything, it amuses me. The general downer on flyer has pissed me off in truth, but he handles it well.
