The answer is simple really, Arsenal don't do 'tactics'. As Wenger says, "vee vil go zere and play our game". On the plus side that tends to be a bigger problem in cup competitions than in the league. Over 38 games, our A plan could still be good enough to win the league.
City faced Munich away, ok they had 1 day extra, but 1 day extra doesn't= 6-3, this is the modern game, you want to be an elite club, then you play in Europe, and the cups, and have less rest time, all big teams have to go through it, not only Arsenal, so it's not excuse.
you are right gent , we DO NOT change our tactics according to the opponent . We play "the arsenal way " whatever . Even when you play weak teams , its pass pass pass , and overly cautious when its not even justified. Maureen can change tactics in a moment , wenger is like an oil tanker , takes about 2 miles to turn around.
Well, all the more credit to them, that they finished their business and could afford to do that (and still win), if we hadn't lost to Dortmund at home, maybe we could have done the same.
Actually though, against City we did try to play a more balanced game between defence and attack, but we just didn't really do either very well and ended up getting caught between the two, sitting back and getting hammered each time City came forward.
Not really. They were drawn in an easier group, while we were in the hardest group. It's to our immense credit we managed to get out of that group. City had 12 points on a plate against CSKA and f**king Vicorita Plezen (sp)
Meaning not the usual tactics (i.e. Plan A) as opposed to something especially to counter the opponent. Like what Mou has set out to do with Luiz and Matic in midifield.
Maybe we should also give ourselves credit for not allowing Chelsea to come to our stadium and bossing us like this. Do not remember Hazard doing anything against us and yet he is tearing the mighty City a new one.
The goal completely changed it honestly, City (rightly) don't trust their defensive capabilities to be as daring now.
