It was reported on here a while ago that there were rail maintenance works on Wembley weekend. Just to let anyone intending travelling down by train there was a guy on radio Newcastle tonight from East Coast Rail operators and he was saying that the planned works on the east coast line have now been cancelled for that weekend. He also said there were extra trains on for that weekend (at least 4 after the game North and 2 extra Saturday morning South + more extra on Sunday morning {didn't hear how many}). The other thing that he said was that in conjunction with the transport police it has been decided that the east coast trains will be alcohol free that weekend. Other train operators are expected to follow suit. Hope this helps travel plans
I'm not too bad cause I am intending travelling down on early Sat morning and coming back on Monday dinner time. I'm going to make a weekend of it so I may take in a show on Sat night - I hear there are some good theatre's in a place called Soho!
I'm afraid the drunken minority spoil it for the majority once again..........a bit like the morons on the North Sea ferry the other week.
It's cheaper to fly than get the train, or was when I booked. The price of trains actually makes me laugh out loud.
I had a look and it was cheaper to go to Belfast first - obviously depends when you are travelling. I am going by train for £100 (or less) rtn but as I say going for the whole weekend
Belfast first? **** that! I imagine it's getting pretty full now, I'm going down on the Friday as I have some graft down there, that's obviously helped price wise.
Sometimes it pays to live 1000 miles away Nice to London Gatwick Dep Sat, 01 March 2014 20:45 Arr Sat, 01 March 2014 21:50 Flight 8360 1 Adult 1 x â¬46.87 Subtotal flights and options for all passengers: â¬46.87
Seems summat wrong that you pay a third of the price! I remember when I lived in Spain I could get to London away games for less than £50, impossible from the North East
on one occasion we drove down to Stanmore, think it's on Jubilee line and then caught the tube down to Wembley, saves having to travel into the centre and then back out north
I'm sharing the driving with my Dad. In his lovely posh comfy car!! Going on the Sunday and back on the night. I'm off on the Monday but my Dad can't get the day off!
The train is less of a faf on than flying. More direct and for the time you waste at the airport, there isn't much difference in travel time.
