City's opening game in the Carling Cup is on the road at The Kassam Stadium, home to Oxford United.

The League 2 side finished the 2010/11 campaign mid table but should prove a stern test for a Bluebirds squad who could still be in the process of learning one anothers names, let alone gelling as a unit.

The U's have left back and former Bluebird Tony Capaldi at their disposal,so expect a barrage of long distance throw ins into the heart of the City defence.

The teams last met in the old League Cup back in 1978 when the U's took both legs to progress to the next stage.

With Andy Melville in the backroom staff the U's will be looking to bring the Bluebirds cup run to an early end.

Good to see you on here by the way Miss Frog.

What chance this season of bringing back Thommo just for you?

Thank you :emoticon-0109-kiss: :emoticon-0104-surpr

Can't see it, but was lucky enough to be at Burnley and shout like mad at Thommo when Burnley did their lap of honour. He did the <o> \o/ too!! Good shout though, I wonder where he will end up? Still a good back up player for most Championship teams I would have thought.

Well with Chops gone, I need a new CCFC crush. As much as I love Super Kev, Quinn and Gerrard, they arn't that pleasing on the eye and they all have odd accents. So hopefully we'll get a new player I can obsess over

Or I may have to continue my forbidden love of Joe Ledley :emoticon-0104-surpr

Remember playing Oxford in the early 80's, Aldridge up front for them and we had Little Brian Flynn in our side, played at the old Manor Ground, we got stuffed 4 - 0 on the day, remember it was near Christmas, the local coppers hated us (16 of us in a transit) and insisted on searching our little party every 100 yards or so. If you have seen the film I.D then one of the coppers was like the sargeant. Good day out though, must have been to remember it. I wont say what happened to the two young coppers who kept searching us, but the sargeant agreed they deserved it !!!
