I don't mind people disagreeing with views, in fact I welcome it, it makes me explain and look at it from another point of view. I don't particularly like the personal insults and I tend to stay away from them because I can't be bothered to get involved.

What annoys me more than anything is the fact on here you need to word everything so carefully in case people take it the wrong way and get caught up in your wording rather than just seeing the overall point of what you are saying.

Twas ever thus Josh. Email, text, letter, novel, thesis, Internet forum. If something is vague or badly written , it is too easy for people to jump down throats, claim you wrote something you didn't, and go on a personal attack, escalating ever wider. It's the catalyst for straw man arguments and these are plentiful on here

Sheldon, no one on here is claiming to be a fantastic writer though. They are just displaying opinions and I think some slack should be cut on here because of this

It's not the lack of writing skills I have ever cared about, it's the personal attacks that people bandy around because they don't want to accept a different view

But I have had to become extremely careful with what I write because of those attacks and I have become more aware to ask for clarity before responding to deflect the possibility of those attacks

Thats a fair point, I was more talking about when people pick apart your response as if you were da vinci hiding hidden clues deep within your paragraph and every single word was selected so carefully to make sure you had given just enough clues for them to read something that wasn't there. I think we on here analyse club statements more than the lawyers.

I think people can just jump the gun a bit also. Overall though, I don't have a huge problem with the forum and its certainly the best one around. You can always expect some immaturity with personal attacks but at the end of the day, its over the internet so doesn't make a huge difference in your life, can just be annoying at times more than anything when all you want is to have a decent debate and display your views.

I've been having a wee laugh to myself here. I'm guilty of everything mentioned here. I really don't mean it, and it could all be laughed off in the pub. However, we're online, and you often miss the nuances that sometimes only the poster can see clearly. It's usually when we get yet another bad bit of news that I go off on one. The thing is, nothing else in my personal life sets me off like Leeds bad news. And we've had so much bad news for so long now. I think I'm going to find it very hard to trust any 'good news' that may come our way in the future (this Cellino thing might actually be good news, but I suspect the underlying reason for our outbursts might be that we don't want to get hurt once again).

Jock I totally agree with this having met up previously from old 606. People who used to "fall out" on there got on very well.

Then back on the forum afterwards and it was back on each others cases very strange :)

I think it's the overpaid, under performing, players that need to look at themselves......it's so easy to blame the manager.
