That would be entertaining, though not sure how long I'd keep laughing with JFK in charge.

You may get your wish before too long. Even his approach this last week is a lot more outspoken than he has been in the past. It wouldn't be the biggest shock in the world if he did snap one day and unleash both barrels towards the way he's been treated and had one hand tied behind his back.

It sounds like Laudrup has got his own problems with the Swansea board mate- Christ knows what he would think if he came up here!

I think pards said all he could. Why should he have to speak out in public - the club (as in one of the offcials who 'run' the club) should be taking te spotlight and answeing these questions. pards made it clear that losing Cabaye wiithout a replacement would seriously hurt. Yet it happened.

I'm sure he also wanred them about the backlash from the fans, as well as the impact in the sdressing room and on the pitch. He's done all he can, now he has to get on with managing what he's got.

But Ashley needs to actually face the questions and speak up about the strategy. He can't expect pards to take the flak - or Joke for that matter. It's time for Ashley to man up and communicate with the fans. If we at least knew what the hell he was REALLY thinking it would be a start, as all we can do otherwise is speculate.

He MIGHT even find a big bunch of us would get off his back if we could see what the plan was - even if it wasn't our first choice of plan. If it was a plan that was aimed towards making the club successful and aiming for the top then I'd accept that its his money and at least he's aiming for the right place. As it is, we still have to accept that its his money and he can do what he wants, but that just adds to the frustration when everyone has to guess what he's up to.

Until he says anything to the contrary, that is what most will think.

I don't think his plan will be that basic or simple, nor do I think we will ever hear him say anything to the contrary. He is a man who does not like having to explain himself, not even to his own parents who he apparently ostracised years ago when asked to explain something. I don't even think he keeps us in the dark out of spite. He will not see any need, nor understand our desire, to tell the fans what is going on. He is used to being in charge and doing things his way. That said, he does have history of being spiteful to people who cross him (see that horrible **** Whelan) and can be very vindictive. It does worry me that he might want to screw us over for the way we abuse him, though I suspect the fact he owns the club will override this and he wont cut off his nose to spite his face.

Ashley like all the major owners does not communicate to the fans, the problem is that there is an executive void as the club doesn't have a CEO who would be expected to speak on issues including player investment where this is beyond the writ of the managers scope of operations, unfortunately Ashley has left Kinnear filling the void. I would like to see pressure put on Kinnear, it's not gonna happen but it would be interesting to try to get him in front of a fans forum night to explain why he is here and what reason he uses to justify getting paid money by the club for apparently working there, he seems to be invisible to the media now as well.

Some guy posted this on facebook. Thoughts?

Mike Ashley - Saved Newcastle United from becoming the next Leeds United/Portsmouth, Wiped out the debt and is working towards actually making the club profitable and yet he's a bad person? why? because he's fat? because he's a cockney? because he has a business mind and doesn't spend £20-£40 million on one player?.
Newcastle United are currently sat 8th in the league table and you're still moaning?
I'll get a lot of negative comments for this post but honestly i take it with a pinch of salt, i only get offended if the person replying has a braincell and is capable of holding an actual discussion and not a slanging match.
My opinion is that most Newcastle Fans don't actually care that we aren't in debt, i genuinely believe that most of you would prefer us to be millions in debt with overpaid players who couldn't give 2 hoots why they're playing for such a beautiful club and to you i pay no attention because you aren't the fans this club needs.
I think you all need to be realistic and wake up and realise that this is Newcastle United, We're a mid-table team and that's all we will be until a multi-billionaire decides he fancies a football club for christmas, of course then we run the risk of having a huge fall from grace when they get bored, a risk i'd rather my football club didn't take and for you "Real" fans i'd like to think that that would be your thoughts too.
Joe Kinnear i honestly don't see why he's there so do with that fat twat as you will.
Alan Pardew may not be a tactical genius but he's stuck with it and he's managed to get very good performances from the team.
I get frustrated when we lose games but isnt that part and parcel of supporting a football team?
I'm not here to push my pro ashley agenda down your throats, its my opinion that i'm sure is shared by many others that can't get a word in edgeways on here.
We're currently 8th in the league and just over half way through the season, i'm sure at the start of the season 90% of you would have taken that in a shot.

I agree with a lot this person has said! Though I do think mistakes have been made but then mistakes are made in every aspect of life. The main issue for me has always been the issue for last few years under MA and that is lack of communication.

I can't be a**** to go through the whole text.

There may be some parts that strike a chord with some fans, but to me it seems appeasement and acceptance of the way Ashley runs the club.
FFS, paragraph 1 - when has any Toon fan asked for never mind expect £20m - £40m being spent on one player. All we ask for is commitment from the owner and reasonable development of the squad season by season and not stagnation as we are currently getting.

I must confess, I was fairly staunch in trying to defend the regime, but the close of the window, the attitude of the manager and the performance - again - against our rivals made me rethink. I don't necessarily think it's a 'bad' model, as such. But only in terms of being a corporation. It very much reminds me of the UK government's attempt to remake the NHS, introducing corporate buzzwords such as KPI's, targets, and so on - this kind of stuff only looks good in books, only works if the management behind it are extremely competent and if the model at hand is a basic sales model. As in, this KPI stuff works for Sports Direct, but it does not transpose onto football.

Here's my theory; we still have the purples. Remember those? Where a first team player was a purple, a reserve was some other colour and then there was the developing players. I think we still have that as our 'model'. I just think an email went around from Mike to ensure no-one said the word purple again, because it made him look a bit weird. So we run a team with 11 purples, then 'space' which is filled by active reserves or youth players. We do not operate a policy of having more than 11 purples in the squad. The model we run is with ruthless streamlining and utter frugality, profit & loss and colour-coding of a squad. Simply put, it's a novel idea, but impractical. And I think Ashley is fcked off with Pardew because he's not getting enough out of his purple squad.

My personal thoughts on this whole sorry state of affairs, is that Ashley is actively trying to force Pardew out. When JFK was first appointed, it was widely speculated that it was a move made solely to debase Pardew and force him out. Pardew had become too chumy with 'Lambezee' and vice versa. Lambezee obviously being the perpetrator of the 8 year contracts all around, simply had to go. Obviously, Ashley expected Pardew's position would become untenable and he would be forced to walk. This clearly didn't work out, so Ashley is playing the long game - ensuring that JFK uses every opportunity he has to do what he does best, which is basically nothing. Or at least nothing productive or helpful to Pardew.

Over the course of the season, Pardew has shown varying degrees of insolence - always being careful to not directly criticise his paymaster. Reading between the lines on the few occasions he's been given to speak his mind, he has put forward a dissenting tone, albeit, a muted one. The 'Goals on Sunday' interview springs to mind, as a moment where he actually was very open with his criticism of Ashley ("He doesn't really get the Football world... He get's angry..." etc).

As we know from past behaviour, Ashley can be very petulant when he's called into question. Looking back with hindsight (always a great thing), it seems like this whole season has played out with a backdrop of internal mutiny, within the 'corridors of power' (a great tabloid term!) at St James'. It'll be interesting to see if Pardew stays the course and if so, what happens over the summer.

At the moment, our club has reverted to type and is a easy target as the 'soap opera' club of the Premier League. God it's frustrating! I swore I wouldn't read anything to do with Football, let alone NUFC, for at least a few days after Saturday. But I couldn't do it - I'm just a masochist, I guess?! But don't you need to be a bit of a masochist to support NUFC?

I actually think with the departure of Kinnear that Vincent Tan is gonna get jealous down at Cardiff, he was well on course for the annual "Insane Owners Operation of a Premier League Club" award but Ashley has proved yet again his mastery of the absurd, it is all very daft when you think that with some restraint he could actually be running a very good football club and business.
