I would drop Davis and play a midfield of Vic, cork and spider to dominate stoke.

No!!! Our most consistently steady performer. Against Fulham he cropped up at right back, left back, holding midfield, attacking midfield. So so important!

How much fitter will Vic be in reality for Sat? I think Cork should start although I agree with the rational for picking Vic with his superior strength against Stoke.

I actually think Vic has quite good feet when he is on his game, the Arsenal game springs to mind at the Emirates where he was excellent. I think that Poch's preference is due to the protection that he provides as an extra insurance, although it doesn't always seem to be required if we are of course bossing the game. Anyway, I see a win for us here.

I think Corky will be back in for this one given that he helped change the game on Saturday, better to give Vic the last half an hour if circumstances are right. I expect Stoke will come and keep it tight and solid, just keep tabs on their big goal threat Begovic and we'll be ok.

I'd give Clyne a start too, but that's just me.

Nope, I prefer Clyne. He's tricky and always links up with/ overlaps the winger really well. If Chambers is fit MP may go for him as he's bigger, but I'd personally pick Clyne everytime.

Well Chambers is a major doubt? So we can't really play any one else there. :p

Oh is he? Ok, well big Clyne fan anyway. Remember last year when everyone said the Clyne-Puncheon partnership on the right was the brightest thing we had? But then Clyne did it even when Puncheon wasn't there...so yeah it was 90% him.

I'm a massive Clyne fan but if there's one team I'd leave him out for it's Stoke. Combining the factors that the weakest part of his game is defending the far post (Besides not wearing long enough studs), Stoke mostly playing strikers out wide who all have height advantages over him, Arnautovic having a massive one at that, and that Stoke's biggest threat comes from balls into the box, it is just asking for trouble I feel.

    Fair point.

That it is, and not just two similar players but ones who bring different strengths and let us change things.

Yup cork off the bench makes sense to me. His energy + tired stoke legs = domination late on.

For all those thinking Wanyama will be better cos Stoke are physical, cast your minds back to last season at the Britannia. Corky got right on Nzonzi's nerves, and even caused the useless t**t to get sent off!! I'd like some more of that, thank you.

Regardless of this, anyone wanting to drop Cork at the moment, is simply off their rocker, Wanyama or no Wanyama.

Yet again, I seem to be reading a lot of Cork or Wanyama. Why does it have to be one or the other?!!!!!

Boruc, Clyne Fonte Yoshida Shaw, Cork Wanyama Davis, Lallana Jay Lambert

Davis, Chambers (if fit), Hooiveld, Morgan, JWP, Guly, Gallagher

(I'd be equally be happy with Morgan over Davis, however that would probably result in a slight change in formation/tactic. It would also mean losing Davis' energy, defensive cover, and multi-positional play)

Absolutely with you mate. Quite frankly I'm stunned by how few people on here seem to acknowledge the importance of a player's current form. In my book, you never drop a player in good form. We are playing so well at the moment, we should not be messing around at all with team selection, especially not for very winnable home games like this one.

Davis is very underrated I feel. Plays a big part and is probably at his peak now. Just wish he coul;d nick the oidd goal. I'm sure he used to score more regularly.

I'm fairly sure Pochettino said he won't play them together because they both play the same role.

I also take the point, but we'll have possesion of the ball most of the match so they can be as physical as they want.
