According to the YEP - Danny Wilson is interested in bringing him to bramall lane!! Hope this is true. weve 3 target men and 1 speed demon in Ross. I think the loss of paynter would be good for us, it would leave a move for another striker with pace. Dave Nugent would have been a good bet. but i think the foxes might be signing him heres the link: http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....d_sheffield_united_move_for_paynter_1_3483321
Thing is paynter isnt that bad for league 1. He proved that with swindon! They lose him and austin for a season and they get relegated. But im unsure even if monty would be good enough for us.
High five to that one Monster. I’m sure hes a great player but he missed more than he scored, he reminded me of bambi on ice at times. Just not the player for us unfortunately and that happens at times. Some players can be brilliant and then at ER they just buckle. **** happens.
First they sign Neil Collins from us, and now they want Paytner?! Can we offer them Bessone and Bruce as well?
too right!! hes missed some right sitters at elland road. As a striker your gonna get a chance to win a game with minutes to go. I.e the game against watford And im sure he got a chance against norwich aswell. ----------------------------------------------------- Saying that best fans - i heard about brucey moving further up north i did get excited, then i hear its about ireland. Just when i thought carlisle had put in an offer
I dont wont montgomary...we were not good enough for him last year ..so he can rot in L1 with the blunts... As for paynter we need to give him another season...
Hes ****. I don’t think he can cut it in the championship. Some players are meant to be in League One, some are meant for Championship. And he just doesn’t cut the mustard for me. he was shocking. And I saw his only bloody goal live and it was the hardest chance for him to take that he converted. He missed some silly stupid sitters. And as a striker you have to be able to convert those silly chances. We have better players IMHO.
I'm with Spanish on this one. This is a big season for Paynter. He was bought because SG believed he could more than do a job for us. He got injured & took a while to get back in. We should be playing 2 up front this season & I think he'll be rotating with Becchio. I also think he'll show us that SG was right all along & he was/is a good asset.
Did you know Billy has made 369 apps in his career and he has still yet to break the 100 goals barrier (94 in total) Unsure what your expecting from a player who doesnt score many and that doesnt do half the work becchio can do. Cut our losses and bring in some 1 better
I think Grayson will give Paynter a chance to prove himself this season if after a couple of months its not happening then may be a loan out to Sheffield would be on the cards. Paynter will be out to prove to the club and the fans that he is worth a start in the team and can produce the goods . The fans have backed him over the last season I think he will come good .
McCormack a speed demon ............... ok then He's nippy but god he's not Omberfemie Martins or Theo Walcott, they are speed demons
Some just don’t work out and he isn’t. I don’t think I’d want to risk him being in the side again. I would rather have had Charlie Austin than Billy Paynter and I can’t stand Austin the little cretin. I still remember him when he scored coming to the South Stand and making gestures at us all…grrrr. If we get off to a bad start and Billys in the lineup and we aren’t scoring, that puts pressure on Grayson which a lot of people don’t want. And if we have a bad start I think Bates will get rid of him IMO. So do you want to take that risk?
If it means we get Montgomery, then NO. When he's 100% fit and sharp, Paynter will be decent backup. There's really no point switching everything around up front, it worked for us last season and it will work for us next season if we keep it consistent. Bring in new faces, switch around formations and you've got a bunch of managerial headaches you don't even need. I'm happy for Billy to sit on the bench and rotate with Becchio when necessary.
