If we get relegated what happens to Kvist & Holtby?

They are loans with options to buy, correct?

The reason I ask is that if (or when) we get relegated do you think they would decline to sign permanent deals for a club playing Championship rather than Premiership football. Be a shame to lose them but another downside to relegation I guess.

I don't think Holtby has an option to buy... Kvist yes but depends on the small prints...

I think that if we go down, the club will pass on the option for Kvist because they won't want to be paying Premier League wages, so whether he wants to sign would be immaterial.

As Madness says, some option-to-buy contracts are dependent on the player agreeing, and with others the player has already agreed to sign if the club exercises its option. It depends on what his contract says.

It's the last thing that I want, but going down isn't the end of the world for us. Our stadium plans and growth will be stalled, but we can start this rebuild all over again without wages being wasted on players who will never play with the passion and commitment we need.

Jol's attempt to do it was awful, but then Khan didn't really back him. The investment that did come was possibly too late - too late to grumble now and atleast we did something. Rene has had a go at it, although Dale Winton wouldn't have looked out of place at the training ground last Friday.

Kvist might stay on, he wasn't starting at his old club. Holtby, no chance. Even if we stay up it will be a struggle to keep him- his wages are high and he will be wanted by almost every team in the league bar the top 6. German teams know about him too. If we go down I'm assuming Mitro wont have had an impact so we'll take a loss on him.
