http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/sunderland/read_article/10979307.Derby_hero_desperate_to_shine_again_for_Sunderland/ Will Borini be still on Wearside next season, though? He said: “In football, it is not worth thinking long term especially at my age and what has happened to me in the past. “I have basically changed teams every year so I am just focusing on every game. And I have a big target to achieve which is the World Cup in the summer and if I have any decision to make I will make it after that. “I have not really spoken to Brendan Rodgers since I have been here. He did text me after the Newcastle goal but after that, I have not heard from him.” Really hope he stays.. he's showing his best form now he's playing consistently. Can't afford to go back to Liverpool to play second fiddle at this stage in his career.
The lad loves playing, you can see it, and that may be our golden coin here. He's been fantastic last 6 weeks.
Exactly.. if he goes back then he'd be behind Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho for the attacking places, would be used in a rotation at best and he's shown he plays best when given a run of games My worry is if he is available for transfer is if a better team are interested (I'd be surprised if there wasn't) but he did mention that he's played for a team basically every year. Then again maybe he wants to settle down in a system he thrives in and is already familiar with
My concern is Lazio, they need a forward and he looks a perfect fit for them. Would be hard for him to resist, although the fact he's in England again suggest a liking for life here.
Agreed. Been very impressed with him for a while, before he hit this form you could see from his work rate and movement was world class. He's settling in a treat. Win this final and it will make life so much easier to convince these sort of players to sign up.
Oh aye, European football changes everything, not just keeping the lads but the potential for future targets.
He does seem to like it here, playing for us, and he's got a mrs from England, which would be a contributing factor.
I like the guy but being completely honest I don't think we have a hope in hell of keeping him. If Liverpool don't want him he will go to a European side, this is no reflection on SAFC. The guy wants to play football and to do so on the biggest stage he can.
European football is the key here, Liverpool might not be in Europe next season at this rate so you never know, its quite possible Liverpool could finish 6th (which is unlikely). We could win the cup and end up finishing 10th. Then again we could still get relegated. The lad is sensible and I like the way he talks. He is going to wait to see what happens at the end of the season. If he goes to the world cup and plays well their will be a whole host of clubs in for him.
He has earned his chance to lead our line and in my honest opinion he should. It would me a slight shift in style but I think if he was up front he would get 15 plus a season. That said Gus has him purring at the moment. I feel Gus could be key to who comes here. Who wouldn't want to play for him......?
Like this? Mannone O'Shea----------Brown Bardo------------------------Alonso Bridcutt Ki------Colback Johnson-----------------Scocco Borini Looks sexy that
It certainly does. Although Jozy's last 2 have been by far his best 2 for us. Difficult to drop anyone really. A few (my "anti-dore" Dad for one) said he messed up his one on one. I said to him if that'd been our keeper we'd have said "great save" as it was excellent keeping. I think he'd have scored that with a little more confidence. Certainly onwards and upwards now
