We're in to 2/1 for relegation now. The results against Fulham at home and Cardiff away have made staying up a lot more difficult. If we lose away to Fulham we will have taken one point from a possible 12 against the bottom two teams. I read people saying things like "there are definitely three worse teams than us in the league this year" but I'm not sure I agree.
I can't think of 3 worse teams than us now. West Brom maybe and Fulham, think we are the 3rd worse. West hams players are mostly back from injury and it's showing in the results. Also a lot of people around us in the league strengthened in the transfer window. One of Cardiff's signings in the Jan window secured the 3 points for them. I can't see us getting a single point from our next 4 games. Then it's Sayonara premier league and CH.
And a return to a decade or more of blundering around in the mid-table wilderness of the Championship Whether McNally and the board backed Hughton for the long term or not is irrelevant, none of them could have forseen the levels of mediocrity he is taking us to. How much more patently obvious can he make it, David, that there's only one way this is going to end?
The best we can hope for is that West Brom lose today and so do Palace. West Brom are losing at the moment. That is literally ALL we have to hang on to, we rely on other teams losing as we are so bad that we are unable to get ourselves out of this. I don't think CH has taken us forward in any way and I can't see that he is the man to take us forward in the future. Nice bloke and all that, but it's just not working out.
The logical time to fire Hughton is any time over the next three matches. Crushing defeats at home or a defeat away will be enough to justify it. We then have a "nice" (by premier league standards) run of seven fixtures to cushion safety so firing Hughton before that might gain the advantage of any "new manager bounce" and a home crowd behind the team. Any later and it becomes a little pointless I feel, not enough time for the new guy.
I think they are going to stick with him now unless things take a dramatic turn for the worse. To be honest now is not a good time to appoint someone new (although certainly alot better than in the Championship) I do think he'll be gone at the end of the season however, too many crosses against his name now and lets face it, the fans are sick of him now. Everyone I speak to has had enough of him and the general feeling on these boards now is enough is enough. Based on what we know of him during his time here he doesn't have the skills to be able to get the fans back on side.
Carrabuh it would take an absolute miracle to get the fans back on side. The football has been dire, the results have been dire and we have been absolutely slaughtered numerous times and showed zero sign of fighting back and spirit. The 2 things that need to happen for the board to take action is: 1) have a massive home loss to a team under us in the table. 2) to drop into the relegation zone. If both of these happen at the same time the writing would be on the wall and the board would have no choice I believe. Steve Clarke is out there and I think he got a rough deal at West Brom so I would plumb for him if he would come.
I have this terrible feeling that we will need to go to Arsenal at the end of the season needing a draw or a win and arsenal will need to win to take the title.
2) could happen this weekend if WBA palace is a draw, west ham beat villa and the inevitable hammering at the carra happens. My main hope (against relegation) is that turner and howson are back in the next 2 weeks and yobo is Briliant in Defence If we lose to city, wet sham and spurs I think he could go
I have nothing against CH personally but it is obvious that things are going wrong isn't it? Is there anyone out there who thinks he is doing a decent job?
I think the last realistic chance we will have to get points before our horrific run in would be fulham away. We needed to get more points on the board before now and I think we are in big trouble.
With the likelihood of getting a stuffing this Saturday, we must target points from the following nine games including the Fulham game. That's four wins to 36 points.
Maybe McNally. What I can't get in my head is the four or five very good chances yesterday near the end of the game, why didn't one go in? The group is low in confidence
I think he will be given the chance to get us back up if we go down due to his previous experience at that level.
Depends on what players stay. I think however many will go. Feeling pretty depressed about the whole thing ATM but will just have to see how things pan out now.Take each game as it comes.
One lost game and it's panic stations. There are nine other teams either below us or within one point.Let's keep a bit of perspective here.We were the better team yesterday by a mile,Cardiff just got lucky. On another day they would have taken a battering.
