Saw a post this morning reference the song we sing who's laughing now. which seems other teams fans don't now why we sing it.

Is it time to stop singing this song ?????

Yes. It's time to stop singing songs about Portsmouth full stop.

This is actually a song that I really like. It's clever, because they taunted us with it, and we are returning the favour.

Agree, Pompey are beyond **** at the moment and I actually feel sorry for them. In fifty years we may, albeit unlikely, be in Pompey's position and they may gradually get themselves back to the Premier League, and I think that there's a limit on rubbing it in. When we went up and they went down, that was fair enough, but when they got relegated to League Two and we were comfortably mid-table, that was a bit over the top. I don't see Stoke fans ripping into Port Vale in the lower leagues.

I agree - it is no longer funny. They may have over-played their "we sent the scummers down" song, but as they say, he who laughs last, laugh last or something like that!

The main problem I had was that we always used to concede whilst singing it, although that does seem to have stopped now!

I thought I was the only one to notice that.

Onionman Jr is strictly forbidden to join in any anti-Portsmouth song (or any anti-away fan song bar "Sing when you're winning" which is inevitably deserved whichever way it's aimed). I caught him bellowing out "Who are ya?" when we came back to 2-2 against Arsenal and we had a short chat again.

It's time we just dropped the Anti-Portsmouth songs. Not because I feel for them, not because they are three divisions below, not because I think it's like whipping a dead dog but because I don't care about Portsmouth any more than I do about Tranmere Rovers or Inverness Caledonian. Plus it's common.

I'm deeply embarrassed when the away fans start with "When I was just a little boy...".

However, I admit it's like trying to stop the tide. Indeed, I feel a right Canute for even trying.

It was clever at first, but the time when it was topical has long since passed. If we were that clever, we'd have come up with something else by now.

God, yes. I know it's just a song but the idea of shooting anyone just because they support a different team is just indescribably awful.

Us singing about Portsmouth is just like Italy fans singing about San Marino. And rather than being 20 miles apart, San Marino is actually in the middle of Italy!

Us singing about Portsmouth when we're not actually playing them is totally pointless. Other fans must wonder why we think they care about our local rivalry.

These songs will naturally go out of fashion. I hardly remember anti pompey songs in the 90s, because they hadn't been a rival for a long time. It's only their recent renaissance which has made them a topic.
We've got 90 minutes of airtime to fill so until we get some more material you going to have to grin and bear it.

Yes! It makes you (not you personally) sound extremely bitter and like you have a massive chip on your shoulder.

Problem is it's a nice, catchy song that makes people feel good in general. I think that's why it caught on.

And we should let bygones be bygones - "C'est la vie" after all. And what ever happens, we can "Blame it on the weatherman"...

Can't honestly remember hearing it, which is all to the good for me. I used to get so fed up with hearing Father's [sometimes Farmer's] Gun, and thank goodness that appears to be on the wane these days, although it still does pop up infrequently, which is occasionally too often. If I never hear that one again it won't be long enough.
