Ta' swords, that sounds relatively positive! He had a good game yesterday, but faded a little in the 2nd half. Hopefully the impressive display wasn't just due to the adrenaline of a big-match debut.

I thought that Wolves wanted him off payroll as he was earning a large wedge - and they didn't want him injured as he didn't fit into kenny "Smokin" Jackets plans. Doyle will get us goals in this division, and for me good signing. Fitness wise it will take time to get into top shape, but, bearing in mind Zamora hasn't been fully fit since we signed him, AJ has spent roughly 12 months out and Super Charlie Austin now out he has a chance to prove to HR that he is the man to score goals and maybe be the one to help our number one striker when he returns.

Shane Long scored his first goal for Hull City as Steve Bruce's side held Champions League hopefuls Tottenham.

Thanks for trying to get me of the hook, but with such a busy transfer window I actually thought he had come over on the last day. Also a great start for him, took his opportunity really well. I think Kevin Doyle might prove to be a real eye opener for us for the remainder of the season - a very astute signing, after all, not so long ago he was scoring in the Premier League and this might be just the change he needs to reignite his career - he's also still relatively young at just 30.

He's an international player with around 60 odd caps. He's played and scored in the Prem and Euros. I actually think that Austin could learn a lot from him in training. He's a very clever player but honest as the day is long.
The key for us I believe is his desire to get back into the Irish squad where Long has effectively replaced him. Martin O'Neill has spoken of his admiration for Doyle so I expect him to burst a gut for us to secure his international return. IMO, it's a brilliant bit of business.

By the way, he's excellent in the air and at running the hard yards but IMO, his weakness is his inability to to be consistent in front of goal. He'll score goals but he's in no way prolific. His best role is as the battering ram in a front two.

I was one of those who was dubious about signing him but, whilst I won't get carried away after one game, it was a very encouraging debut. I, too, was impressed by the headers he won and his work rate. I just hope he can keep knocking the goals in. A very promising start.

Great bit of insight for those of us who aren't too familiar with him, Nuts. Cheers!
