Did brilliantly for his goal.............. please log in to view this image He tired towards the end due to lack of match fitness but never ever gave up. Doyle will be a very good signing for us.
dont care if he runs or not..qll i want is my centre forward to score a goal a game..not a bad start...!
Could a leopard change it spots.....will we go from a scrooge like team, who does not concede but gets the odd goal. To one that regularly concedes...and has to score "one more than you"
That would make me very happy, though I don't think we will come up against teams as good going forward as Burnley, with two attackers on top form, very often. We know we can be tight at the back, remind ourselves of that, and add the freedom to get players forward with the ball under control, we're on our way.
Make me happy too...it slightly looked that way yesterday, hungry strikers...and there are two more on the bench Dellatorre and Keane...how are we going to fit them in?
He was excellent for the first 30 minutes or so but then disappeared from view. Is he likely to be the one that HR picks to start week in week out I wonder? I suspect he may be more effective as an impact sub.
Doyle played very well, reminiscent of Helgusson in the air..and never stopped running. He did fade in the second half so will only be better for us, when up to full match fitness. He was constantly having a chat and a laugh with Joey in the pre match warm up,so looks like hes settled in quick.
I don't know if these 2 or Maibo are decent on the right wing or not, but if Phillips is out a while and Hoillet gets another of his regular hamstring pulls there will be an opening there. Although Hoillet was better than he has been yesterday, I thought we missed the crosses that Phillips has been getting in lately - for me this was a big reason for Kevin's "disappearance" from the game - I saw him arriving at the far post, but Hoillet's balls in were barely making the near post - same a bit with Traore yesterday.
Good debut not getting carried away but look like being with out Charlie may not be all doom and gloom.
That's just what I was thinking yesterday too Deano. I've been watching Doyle all his career but it wasn't until yesterday, when he was in the Hoops, that that particular comparison clicked. I know its only one game but maybe, just maybe, he could be our new Iceman.
Based on what you've seen of him throughout his career, were you/are you confident that he'll do a job for us?
I thought he was superb yesterday. Worked his socks off, got his goal and won a huge amount of headers. As others have said, it also reminded me of Helguson the way he hangs in the air just long enough to get the header. Very impressed.
Well I've always liked him playing for Ireland. Gave his all and was a real fans favourite. So on that basis he'd definitely do a very good job for us. Problem is, he's fallen away of late and has done nothing at Wolves for the last couple of years. If he can rediscover his form he'll do well. But it all rests on that "If" Grifter.
