Manchester United winger Bebe has left the club to join Turkish outfit Besiktas on a one-year loan deal.

The Portuguese was a surprise £7.4m purchase for Sir Alex Ferguson in August 2010. But he has struggled to break into the Old Trafford first-team since joining from Vitoria de Guimaraes.

The 20-year-old received a lot of media attention around the time of his move because he had lived on the streets during his childhood and had made his name playing in the Homeless World Cup.

Bebe had only signed a five-year deal with Guimaraes a month before his move to Old Trafford, but Ferguson moved quickly after reportedly being told to snap-up the youngster by his former assistant Carlos Queiroz.

He made seven appearances during his first season at United, and scored two goals.

2nd that.I remember the Wolves game where he got subbed on then off again. The crowd was on his back a bit as he was getting into the right areas but his delivery was lame.Hopefully he can get a few games under his belt without that pressure an work on his final ball.

Let's not beat around the bush. His delivery on the whole was atrocious, but that is something you can work on whereas getting into good positions is something that is more innate and harder to teach. So there is building blocks to work with. Let's not have a complete downer on Bebe. But if he does impress from a good season in the reserves then who knows. But I'm not expecting anything but I'd like to see him a proper chance but sometimes you can't afford to be too sentimental.

Exactly - there isn't any room for sentiment- this is Manchester United and I don't ever see him as being good enough

I think it's a good move. He needs regular first team football to improve and he isn't going to get it at Utd next season.

I hope he does well over there and gets valuable games which will give him experience and confidence.

To be honest this has the hallmark of more likely than not leading to a permanent move. Besiktas aren't in the CL, so he won't necessarily be getting any relevant experience. If we wanted to keep him, you'd expect the loan move to be to a lower PL team, or even a Championship club, like we did with Evans, Beckham, De Laet, Wellbeck etc. The Turkish league and Europa League are unlikely to help him kick start a career in the PL and CL.

I'd love to be proven wrong, as I still think the guy could make a career for himself with a couple of seasons of loan football to get experience. But I think he may never play for Utd again.

There isn't. So it wouldn't surprise me even if he does have a good season that he'll move on. The only way he'll stay if he has a stonking season with them and impressed with Besiktas in European competition (don't know if they are playing in the CL or Europa leage). That brings me onto another United player that people have probably forgotten about- Mame Biriam Diouf. I thought he had a pretty good season with Blackburn and looks quite decent, but is he going to stay at United, probably not even though he has impressed far more than the likes of Bebe or....MANUCHO!

I actually feel sorry for the bloke, he basically pulled from poverty, thrust - albeit for a shortime- in the limelight due to the nature of the purchace, and then had every man his dog watching him waiting for him to be the best thing since they put the pockets in Pitta, or to fall flat on his face. The kid didn't have much say in the whole thing, what was he supposed to do? say "No Mr Ferguson I will not come to your famous club as you have never seen me play, and I am just a worm! and would prefer to stay here in the gutter"

    good luck to him

This bloke was never good enough to play for, or be paid to represent, United. My own objection was never to him personally but to the deal itself as it said a lot about the seemingly parlous financial state we were in.

It then became blurred and after that a lot of the venom appeared to be directed at Bebe himself. For me, that was never the intention but I won't shy away from saying he is ****, not good enough, and that I hope he never returns. He was stealing the shirt off home grown potential in my eyes and it should never have happened.

On the face of it he was a stop gap chance taken on an unknown whilst Scholes etc. were playing their last season that didn't work out. I'm guessing certain finances needed sorting out before this summers purchase of better players.
