  1. Just heard a Liverpool fan on the radio saying that Lucas has no speed and just kicks people because he can't keep up with them. I didn't agree but understood where he was coming from. However, he followed up with this beauty: "Liverpool fans are not in favour of Henderson either. More than half don't rate him at all" #prick

Sounds like a Blue/Manc in disguise..
Always been a fan of Hendo and I think, after the last 12months, he won over the vast majority of Liverpool fans!

  3. Liverpool fans that don't rate Hendo are few and far between nowadays. I'd say he's been our second or third best player this season

So some posters were worried about a flat performance against the Baggies. Well if today's results did not give us encouragement nothing will. COYMR

west brom are desperate for point already.

they need to out work lfc and cut off supply to SAS.

LFC simply need to put the effrot in and try to gain more possession than them and look for the positive chances.

the question ahs to be if we get a goal will their heads go down. I don't know the answer.

I know hull and cardiff never gave up. villa did though a little second half.

thats the key to survival this year i think...so do west brom have it?

We'll find out in just over 3 hours.

As when talking about the situation in the table and our position vis a vis those above and immediately below us, the situation is the same when it comes to each and every opponent. All we have to do is concentrate upon making sure that we are ready for the match - physically, mentally and tactically - and let them worry about us.

    TEAM NEWS

West Brom striker Nicolas Anelka will miss Sunday's game against his former club Liverpool after having seven stitches in a knee injury suffered in the midweek defeat by Aston Villa.
Fellow forward Stephane Sessegnon has a groin problem and is head coach Pepe Mel's only other absentee.
Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen returns after missing the midweek win against Everton with a hamstring strain.
Glen Johnson, Mamadou Sakho, Jose Enrique and Daniel Agger remain out.

    MATCH PREVIEW

Liverpool must sure they end this sweet and sour week without the bitter taste of a dog's dinner at the Hawthorns.
It was all sweetness and light as they ripped through the Everton defence in Tuesday's derby demolition. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge took their goal haul to 39 between them as they chewed up the Toffees. Coutinho danced a Scouse samba through the midfield. Gerrard hurled out bombshell passes from deep. They looked worthy contenders for a Champions League place.

If they can get into Europe's elite they'll attract the best players to the club. But to guarantee a top four place they needed to sign one or two top names and in a catch-22 situation this week they failed to do that to the fans distaste. Mohammed Saleh eluded them. Then the deadline day dash for Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka fell at the final hurdle.
It showed that Liverpool aren't yet the pulling power the club once was. But it also showed what sort of style Brendan Rodgers is trying to perfect. Both targets are lightening quick.
On Tuesday his side broke with devastating speed. The manager wants players who can enhance that tactic.
The first sign of what was to come from Suarez this season came with his hat-trick against West Brom in October. That day Liverpool showed how far they'd developed from the stumbling side that crashed 3-0 at the Hawthorns on the opening day last season.
The Baggies used that as a launch pad for a soaring journey into the top six by Christmas. But then the slump began and they've won just eight of 42 league games since with just one victory in the last fourteen in all competitions. It now falls to Pepe Mel to dig them out of the trough of despair that is leading ever downwards.
He'll know all about loan-signing Thievy Bifouma Koulossa from Espanyol from his days in Spain and he badly needs a striker with Shane Long gone, Nicholas Anelka's injured and facing a possible ban and Stephane Sessegnon also sidelined.
But Bifouma is a big gamble. Nine of his 11 league appearances this season have come from the bench. His last goal came in October.
The Liverpool defence is far from secure. The keeper Simon Mignolet takes a few too many chances. Kolo Toure has been patchy and Aly Cissokho just so-so. The home side will have opportunities especially if they press high as they did in that opening win last season.
But I can't see Lugano and Olsson being able to handle the Reds front pair. Liverpool are far from the finished article. They'll need to work harder in the transfer market to bolster the plans of their bright young manager. But they are moving the right way.
West Brom aren't and I'm beginning to fear for what is a really smashing football club.

    MATCH FACTS

    Head-to-head

West Brom did the double over Liverpool last season for the first time since 1966-67, including a 3-0 win at the Hawthorns in August 2012 - but lost 2-1 in a League Cup tie there last September.
Liverpool won 4-1 in this season's reverse fixture at Anfield courtesy of a Luis Suarez hat-trick.
    West Bromwich Albion
Wednesday's derby defeat by Aston Villa extended the Baggies poor run to one win in the last 13 matches.
The 4-3 Villa loss was the second time this season they had conceded four goals in a game - having previously done so against Liverpool.
Albion's only away win in 11 attempts this season came against Manchester United in September.
The Baggies have conceded the opening goal in 14 of their 23 games; only Cardiff (15) and Fulham (18) have a worse record.
West Brom have had a league-high 15 different goalscorers this season (16 including own goals).

    Liverpool

Liverpool have won three of the last four games (D1) in the Premier League.
The Merseysiders have scored in their last 13 games, netting a total of 40 in that spell.
Steven Gerrard has scored in his last three league games, his best scoring run since four in a row in December 2012.
Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have played a combined 33 Premier League games this season and scored 36 goals.
Only Manchester City (18) have scored the first goal on more occasions than Liverpool (17).

There are no easy away games this year with so many clubs fighting to avoid being pulled into the relegation battle and so many fighting for top 4.

Look at Stoke yesterday. Before they played they were in the 3rd relegation spot, one win and they are 11th.

This will be a tough game, only benefit we have is they are light on strikers with two out injured and they sold Long to Hull.

I won't feel comfortable unless we have a two goal cushion.

I've never been an admirer of Johnathan Pearce and his Match Preview reminds me why. Today it appears that he's in one of his damn with faint praise moods - stuff him!

It's quite simple. If we turn up and play we'll stuff 'em. If we don't we'll struggle. But if they do play Lugano we'll always have a chance - even if we play poorly.
