by task i mean the ability to play attacking football and score goals. Through tactics, lack of focus and poor decision making we have been woeful at doing this this year. When we do 'go for it' we look quite good, but we don't have any of the sharpness/instinct to put away our chances. Bassong was a beast last year at set pieces. Ive lost count of how many times he's failed to even direct the ball towards the goal this season. We have a manager who, for whatever reason doesn't set us up to be a natural attacking force.
Oh look, the little boys from the minor league have come for a laugh! Here is a message to all our "outers" Anyone who blames today's defeat on Hughton, prove beyond ANY shadow of doubt that they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about football! That is all!
I am incredibly passionate about Norwich. That's why I believe we can stay up and am not losing my mind because we got incredibly unlucky. Just as we got lucky against Newcastle last week. We clearly didn't deserve a point against Newcastle but we did deserv to win this match. It was INDIVIDUAL errors that cost us 2 sloppy goals. Hughton can't tell Hooper where to pass that ball or tell Bennett or Martin to be quicker on to it. That is their mistake. We hit the post twice and forced Marshall into 3 very good saves and all you have to say after wards is thats it, game over. Well you can give up hope but I will continue to support the team. That's being passionate about your club. Not throwing in the towel because things aren't going your way!
what about people who believe that Hughton should take the lions share of responsibility for the gradual decline of results, skill, and entertainment offered by NCFC over the last year?
Just to put your optimism in to perspective - we have had 60+ shots at goal in two games, against one of the worst teams in the league - and have gained 1 point, scoring just one goal. I am finding it very difficult to remain optimistic after today.
He never got any credit when we beat Brom and ManC at the end of last season, yet if the players make big mistakes that cost us a game it is apparently Hughton's fault? I think the team was set up wrong from the start today but that doesn't excuse the manner in which we conceded!
Today ? Well, the jury's out for me, but he is to blame for the overall position we are in. Get real Dave, when will you realise that this man is taking us down?
It's McNally and Co who have thrown in the towel by not changing the manager sooner, talk about the blind leading the blind !
I understand that there isn't much to be optimistic about. But I still try because I would rather be optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right. What really annoyed me about KIO's comment was the "That's it, can't be bothered" attitude. We still have a lot of games to go and a lot of fight left to give. I see enough for us to stay up this season. I hope Hughton takes one thing from this match and that is that Tettey and Fer HAVE to be the pairing in midfield. As good as Johnson's pass for Olsson was, his general play was just as sloppy and again it wasn't until the TF combo was on that we looked like scoring.
Those last two games were good, but they weren't representative, and yes they were against teams with less reason to care about playing. No way would we have beaten man city if they'd needed those points. The team was set up wrong, and how hughton couldnt see it after the latter 30 minutes of the 1st half is worrying. Many of our players are really underperforming at the moment and making stupid decisions, but surely part of a managers remit is to get the best out of their players, and get them thinking intelligently about what they're doing in the game? Sunderland under Poyet look like a different bunch of players. Thats what a good manager can do, they polish what they are given. Hughton seem less capable of doing that, i would argue there's little about us that looks 'shiny' at the moment.
