Leeds in a downward spiral - CEO & MD also leaving. Could not happen to a more dirty hateful team (well apart from one!)
The takeover is confirmed and new guy has stated he wants a coach not manager so not sure if McDermott is reinstated W_Y. No disrespect to Beppe but as he is on a deal to the end of this season McDermott would be a good fit for us with his Championship knowledge etc.....
The thought of being loaned back to Watford was obviously too much for Sordell - he's just scored for Charlton at Wigan...
The takeover at Leeds has to be approved before any new owner can start hiring and firing I would have thought. Has this new guy passed the FPP test yet? Although Baz passed, this guy has history and I would have thought the FA would like to have a good look at his record.
More than a good look, I'd have thought - after the 'Baz experience', they really have to be very careful. This fellow's past has the potential to seriously damage the FA and their 'fit & proper' rules.
Apparently the take over at Leeds had not gone through yet, so the new mans lawyers cannot legally sack anyone.
"In 1996, the 53-year-old was held in custody for eight days and later convicted of deceiving the EU and the Italian Ministry for Agriculture out of £7.5million. He plea-bargained a reduced and suspended 14-month sentence. Then in 2001 he was handed a 15-month suspended sentence for false accounting at the Serie A club he controls." Surely false accounting at a football club should be enough to bar someone from taking over an English club at any level.
..or Mandaric has been at his various clubs - I'm just waiting for the news of problems at Wednesday.
BB, In the Watford Observer piece announcing his appointment on the 18/12/21013 it stated that although WFC had not commented on the length of his contract it was being reported on an Italian website that he had signed a contract until end of season with option of another 12 months and so i thought with just over three months of season left if this is the case there would not be a big compensation package to pay and after Thursday's nightmare....
I know that two national dailies both later reported it as 12/12 - always the chance that one got it wrong & the other merely copied the error I suppose.
Not sure how the timeings worked out but BW at Leeds could have been given notice that when the immenent take over was complete ( within 24 hours ) he would be losing his job. The way managers in this situation are paid compensation relevant to contract length would also mitigate unlawful dissmisal procedings particularly if he was informed his contract would be paid up in full. On the fair persons test we know from past experience that this is a joke and as he owns another Italian Club the FA would not likely or be willing to try and block his takeover as they would be liable to lose any court action appeal the new owner would certainly lodge. As they say there are always ways..... to get what you want.
It could well be 12/12 and i can't find anything from WFC on length, but 12 months till next December seems a funny time to offer in first instance at face value.
