If the right player wasn't available for the right price then we have clearly done the right thing. Ok, our squad is thin in areas but clyne, cork, chambers, rodriguez, guly and wanyama can play in different positions to cover if needs be.

We still have 4 centre backs when DL returns and an england youth cb in reserve. Still have lambert and young pretender up top with rodriguez or guly to fill in if injuries mount.

Burnout is the only thing that worries me but can't see us finishing lower than 12th and see us probably finishing where we are-with a group of youngsters well versed in the premierleague heading into next season (where we can add to the group with real quality). Love this club.

Cannot see us slipping more than 1/2 spots at the worst...remember we have to drop the points and the teams behind us all have to gain them. They will have to gain them by beating the teams above us (all pushing for top places) or the teams below (all fighting relegation). No easy points there. For various reasons, we have had to play games without Osvaldo already. Although we lost points playing without Boruc, Dejan and Victor, we have two of those back....though Victor may need some settling in time. It would have been good to get loans in as back up, but no point in buying a player now if we could get a better player in the summer (with more consideration).

I hope we finish strongly, but, if we don't because of our weak squad, I will regard this as a decent, interesting season and hope for better next year. What happens in the summer is unclear, though I think Mauricio will stay if KL does and gives him support.

Turnbull was excellent in pre-season and it seemed like his chance wouldn't be too far away. Keepers are a slight concern but chances are Boruc will be available all season. Obviously we've got two choices at least for each fullback position and as you say we're more than good enough in midfield. Other than perhaps struggling to find the net, I don't really anticipate any massive problems with depth.

We will definitely need two keepers for the cup final. It's written already that we will use two in the final as in 2003.

Don't think he is ready yet, next one to step up for me is Sims.

What about Stephens? I thought he looked comfortable when he came on for 10 minutes against Coventry in the FA Cup a couple of seasons back.

Stephens and Turnbull progress has slowed a bit. They both haven't kicked on as much as they should have. For me Turnbull looks the better player atm.

AM, But he could play in any of the midfield three positions ,I think he will replace Guly when he leaves.

Ah cool, yeah could be a good fit to our first team, I have heard good things about him too. Not forgetting Reed who hopefully will get some more games.

edit Ha just realised Sims scored twice when I reffed the U18s. Should really remember this stuff

Yeah, 6'1" CB who can also play LB and has pace. Probably a little further away just owing to his age and the position he plays, though.

Sims looks a real talent, but he's very small and not even playing for u21s yet is he? Don't see him breaking through for a while yet.

Has trained with the first team a few times, so we are looking at him. He has played a few times for the u21s.

I can see him being a first team squad member/ play in the u21's.
