I was busy all day yesterday so have little idea of what happened in the window.

I've found out the Sunderland news, off here, but am banned for life from the Newcastle board by ACS.

Can someone giver me the run down on the Mag signings, JFK brought in, and who we have to worry about today .................. did they blow all the Cabaye money?

I'll forward your comments to the mag board so they can tell me. All of their signings were kept quiet from the SSN I think. They keep it in house and Pardew will no doubt make an announcement this morning about their 10m midfielder

I've heard the unwashed put a shirt on the Stokoe statue. Anyone else heard this? Been 10 years today since his passing, thanks for 73 Bob. I wasn't born then but the memories you brought have been passed on

Sunderland star Fabio Borini determined to stick the knife into Newcastle

FABIO BORINI is planning to plunge the knife into Newcastle for the second time this season when in-form Sunderland face their fierce rivals at St James’ Park.

Borini became an instant Mackem hero when he came off the bench to score a stunning winner in the Tyne-Wear derby last October – a goal which earned Sunderland their first league victory of the season in Gus Poyet’s first home game.

The Italian, on loan from Liverpool, has made a habit of netting vital goals this season.

He’s only scored four, but each one has been significant – that one against Newcastle, plus goals against Chelsea and Manchester United in the Capital One Cup and a poacher’s effort which helped Sunderland fight back from two goals down to earn a crucial point against Southampton last month.

They’ve been followed by his trademark celebration, which sees him raise one arm aloft while his hand goes into his mouth – a traditional Roman gesture.

“In Italy, we have an expression which says, ‘We never give up. We always fight’,” said Borini, 22.

“So I put the knife between the teeth to show the hunger I have every game and every day.” If he is celebrating today, then Sunderland could be on course to notch up three successive derby wins for the first time since 1922.

Don’t rule it out – because Borini is developing a habit of scoring in derbies.

“It’s always great to score a winning goal, but to do it in a derby is special, and whenever I see fans in the street they still want to congratulate me and talk about that goal.”
Fabio Borini
Though he never appeared in a Merseyside showdown, his first derby experience in Serie A was a bitter-sweet affair. “I also scored in the Rome derby and that was unreal, although Lazio eventually beat us 2-1,” he added.

“That is a great occasion and you can feel the tension surrounding the game two weeks before. But the North-East derby is the hottest in this country. The atmosphere and passion is just incredible.”

Not too many loan players write their name into Sunderland folklore, but even if Borini’s move doesn’t become permanent, he’ll always be remembered fondly by the fans.

“Scoring against Newcastle cemented my relationship with them,” he said.

“It’s always great to score a winning goal, but to do it in a *derby is special. And whenever I see fans in the street they still want to congratulate me and talk about that goal.

“This is the one which allows our fans to have a joke at New- castle’s expense if we win.”

The Black Cats make the 12-mile trip in good heart following their midweek win over Stoke, which took them out of the drop zone.

And Borini is confident they won’t slip back into the mire, saying: “I have always believed we can stay up and recent results have shown what we are capable of.”

Poyet will hand a debut this lunchtime to Liam Bridcutt, his deadline day £3m buy from former club Brighton.

“Liam fills the role in the middle of the park perfectly,” said Poyet.

“He grew up with me at Brighton, so he understands the way we play and the job he has.

“He is very special. He is British, young and was a good price.”

Enjoy the game ladies.

I'm hoping you don't enjoy it, but more than that hoping that tonight whoever is taking the piss is taking the piss out of the football and not a bunch of idiots pretending to be supporters - whatever team they pretend to support.

PS: My arse is going mental.....the momentum is all with you!

That doesn't mean anything come derby day, the last two games (0-3 at the Wonga Dome and 2-1 at the SOL) you went in as favourites and with more momentum, we just wanted it more ;)

Most low-key build up for many a derby. Weird.
