How can you say it's a disaster? We've brought in all the cover we needed and spent nothing. Good business.

We've been utterly reliant on Austin for most of this campaign, he's one of (if not the) best strikers in the championship. Remember how we played last time he was out for a while?
Doyle, Maiga, Keane and Dellatore aren't good enough to replace what he contributed to the side.

Is the fact that we haven't actually bought anyone a sign of new, improved prudence or money problems of some kind?

Couldn't agree more, we've done exactly the right thing, not committed ourselves to silly deals that will cost us a fortune in the long run.

It's not surprising that all we've signed is loans. Effectively any money we spend on a player now, will be doubled as it will add to our existing debt and due to the FFP sanctions coming in to effect, any debt we have over 10 million, we will be fined 100% of the debt next year. So if for instance we bought Rhodes for £10 million, that would add another 10 million in debt and thus we will have to pay that 10 million again in fines. At least that's how I understand it works if we're promoted.

So while I think we still would have coughed up the money for Rhodes if he was available, as Harry alluded to last week, I don't think we were willing to pay anything for anyone who wasn't worth the risk. So our business has been for people who should be able to do a job, but with little financial risk at the end of it.

Maybe let them play a few games before we write them off completely? We have been sensible this window rather then pay over the odds for past it players. We have got 4 strikers in along with what we have already and they will all be battling to get in the team and giving 100%. I think of them all Keane will be the one that impresses the most(I hope)

Will Keane has joined you on loan until the end of the season, as a United fan, good luck to him.

Yes, but you can't just get a Charlie Austin off the shelf. We should still have enough to get promoted, then it's Orange Juice time - rip it up and start again.

So, after 30 June 2014, these, by my probably inaccurate calculations, will be the players under contract to QPR:

    Julio Cesar (until June 2016)
    Ned Onuoha (June 16)
    Max Ehmer (June 16)
    Suk-Young (June 16)
    Danny Simpson (June 16)
    Karl Henry (June 15)
    Joey Barton (June 15)
    Charlie Austin (June 16)
    Junior Hoilett (June 16)
    Matt Philips (June 17)

At least we won't angst over being disloyal to the squad that got us promoted like last time......be interesting to see how many of the end of contract/loanees are offered something in the summer, and how many of the under contract ones the club want to move on. Its quite canny management, presumably we have already built the list of targets for if we are promoted vs if we are not in the summer and won't have to wait to offload players before we can act.

But its hard to get passionate in support of such a temporary bunch of strangers. Let's hope they give us the foundation to build something a bit more stable and long term.

    COYRs.

Seems to me we have added depth to the squad, but it don't believe we have improved our quality.
Harry will have to manage this well to sustain where we are now. Just hope the goals will come.

    QPR LATEST

Philip Beard, chief executive of QPR, on 5 live Sport: "We're in the process of sorting Modibo Maiga before the deadline. You get a bit of leeway with the timings with a loanee, and we're confident we can get it sorted. If you ask most clubs their priority going in to the window, people who can score goals are at a premium. We had identified that as an issue and that was magnified massively last weekend when Charlie Austin damaged his shoulder. He's out for certainly a few months.
"Will Keane is coming to us on loan from Manchester United. Harry Redknapp is a fantastic manager of young talent. Look at what happened with Andros Townsend, who performed at a high level when he was here and then became one of the top international players last season."

Management's style now is - everyone's trying to shaft us on transfers - trouble is, by failure to commit in the market, TF is spinning the roulette wheel. The new squad will get my full support, but if I'm honest I can't see where the goals will come from for the remaining games

Not sure if any of these have been posted yet, there are a couple of vids of Keane in reserve and youth action, he looks a handful, tall and pacey with a good instinct, can take a penalty well too.

I'll fully support them, and hope they play brilliantly. I'm looking forward to seeing them. But on paper they're not up to replacing our best player and talisman. We've scraped into the top two often entirely on the basis of his performances.
We needed two strikers even if Austin were fit- Doyle + Keane were always required. Now Austin's injured, we're essentially only replacing him with Dellatore (an injured 21 year old b-teamer), and Maiga- who's ex club's fans are in raptures that he's departed.

This about Maiga from my mate who is a Hammers fan.

"He's a really good player, scored 1 in 2 in the French league, but no good in Allardyce's system cos' he's not a target man. I think he'll do well for you in a 442 or 433, not a 361 that we play."

I'd say a disaster as we needed strengthening prior to the window & with the Austin injury we seem to have got numbers in but not quality so are in a worse position than when we started.

Spending nothing & achieving nothing is not good business.

I'm not an advocate of reckless spending but better players were available either for loan or moderate fees but the management decided against this & so taking a huge risk with our promotion chance.
