Real Madrid will not accept a bid of less than £17.5m for Tottenham target Lassana Diarra, talkSPORT reports.

The France international, also a target for Manchester United, has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho and has been tipped for a return to the Premier League after previous spells with Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth.

Italian giants Juventus and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce would also be interested in a move for the midfielder. Indeed, Fenerbahce are rumoured to have already tabled an £11m bid.

But the Spanish media is reporting that the bid falls well short of Real's valuation and that they will only consider offers of more than £17.5m.

Funds from the Diarra deal would be ploughed into finalising a move for Benfica left-back Fabio Coentrao.

    I agree with Dona!
Diarra is good, but do we really need another CM? Why does he seem to want to add to the side of the pitch where we have a surplus of players? Someone should phone up Arry and tell him we need strikers!

Then we should remind him that none of our strikers managed 10+ goals in the season. What the hell is the point of a striker if they don't do the job they are meant to do; SCORE GOALS.

He seems blinded for some reason when it comes to our lacking strike force.

exactly.....his goals would have given us 4th..but i do understand how many of us spurs fans complain that he offers nothing more to our game than goals..personally thats alot more than most of our others strikers offer at the best of times and errr for a striker ill take that<ok>

but he isnt redknapp's love child ...i hope he plays sandra upfront if we dont sing a decent forward because she is obviously better than bent!

Imagine, Sandra feeding off Van der Vaart, Bale and Lennon.
We'd be formidable. Every defender would fear us.

£17.5mm??? They've got to be having a laugh. He can't even get on to Real's bench half the time. I don't think we need him, anyway. There are far better ways for us to spend that kind of money.

"Nowsuffering" where does it say that we actually interested?
Its been common knowledge for a long time that "arry admires him (smashing lad etc..) but i'm sure he knows we don't need him and that "New Strikers" are the priority.
Anyway its from Talksports the fountain of all truthful rumours.

True. And I didn't realise it was a Talkshite story. I suppose the worrying thing is Harry has his pets and he's been after this one for a while. I was just pointing out that the asking price is a joke IMO, and that we have far more important things to consider spending that kind of money on.

He has thought about him in the previous couple of windows, its only since the last one Sandro has really shone, this rather important piece of information seems to have escaped these idiot journo's. Given the choice of the 2, I'll stick with what we've got. I'd like to think Harry feels the same, his other favourite Joke Hole seems to have gone quiet...thank god!

Diarra is a good player, but you already have Sandro - and £18m is a ludicrous price for him.

Thinking it over & comparing the price tag to some of the inflated prices particuarly for Englishmen it doesn't seem as unreasonable as I originally thought. A bit reduced perhaps because he's not established a consistent starting role at Madrid but he is a good quality versatile midfielder who would be a definite upgrade should a few leave (Aka, Jenas, Palacios, O'Hara). I rate the guy highly and he's in his prime so I'd be happy if we sold those 3 and got him in.
