I think that's the point though, he hasn't been rushed back. They've taken longer than necessary and then eased him back in with minutes against Southend where he looked sharp. Think he'll either start or get a decent run tomorrow.

Sad thing is if he doesn't score in the next month the majority will be talking like that. Cos if you don't score loads, you're **** <ok>

RE Brady, how do we know if he's been rushed back or not? What is he's been training for weeks?

we could start with Hobbs but that wont happen as he's only being sold so Bruce can get a game - even Leeds loaned out Bruce to Huddersfield and then they subsequently got rid - he wasn't and isn't good enough for the Championship so why the hell do we keep playing him - most of our wins have come without Bruce, most of our defeats have come with him in the team

who Hobbs or Bruce - I've seen Bruce every game - I've seen him hoof it all over the place like a fourth division rookie, I've seen him hopelessly out of position playing people onside, I've seen him totally outpaced, I've seen him failing to win headers at corners, I've seen him give his fellow defenders hospital balls, in fact I've seen more than enough - he was fifth choice last season behind Chester Hobbs Faye and Macca - Davies arrived and Hobbs went so he should still be fifth choice - as I said - we win twice as many games when he's not playing - there's a reason for that, we've started letting in goals

I don't have any sort of agenda against AB but he is overrated by many on here IMO. As with many players that give a lot of effort people get behind him, but he can't pass or control the ball at any decent level which is crucial in a back 3 formation. His reading of the game is also poor at times which makes it necessary for him to dive in with those big challenges everyone loves, but he shouldn't have put himself in that situation in the first place. Both he and McShane although being good guys are not able enough for the level we aspire to be at IMO and I strongly feel that we should have kept Hobbs as he is our 3rd best centre back. I think in summer if we stay up we will see a couple of CBs and a LB to replace Figgy.

In regards to those calling this a 'free hit' I disagree. We have played our best football against high end teams as they allow us space in their final third. Look at Sunderland, Norwich, Palace etc. all filling their own box which stifled our limited creativity. The way we play we have just as much chance of beating better teams eg. Liverpool as they are expected to attack us even away from home.

I think his defending is good overall but the distribution is a problem. Same with Faye. Too often we can't dominate or control games; matches like Norwich for example we couldn't get out of our half for long periods. Having people like Bruce chipping it into the stand all the time doesn't help with that. We need to keep the ball and get our flair players on it but they can't do much if the players further back keep giving it away.

Don't get me wrong I like Bruce. He totally surprised me last season as he got better as the year went on (and he's continued that this season in fact) but his poor distribution remains constant.

3-5-3, eh? A nice thought, but we're unlikely to get away with having 12 on the park.

Ignoring the confusion up front, what concerns me here is that you'd go 4 at the back and pick one FB who's horrendously out of form (Fig) but leave out the one quality FB we have (Rosey), instead opting for someone (Macca) who has a shaky history at RB to say the least. It looks a bit scary.

I think the bigger concern is that he's picked 13 players, and one of them twice.

For those saying most of our wins have come against Bruce, wtf? We beat Liverpool with him keeping Suarez quiet.

I think Brady will be a long shot at LB but I'd much rather see him out there than Figueroa who has been a major weak link the last two months. My preferred team would be

    Harper
    Rosenior McShane Davies Brady
    Elmo Meyler Thudd Boyd
    Jelavic Long

Jakupovic Faye Bruce Figueroa Quinn Sagbo Fryatt

I'd like to tweak that team a little Canada and put Figeroa in for McShane and Quinn in for Meyler who is just not good enough.
    Harper
    Rosie Davies Figeroa Brady
    Elmo Thudd Quinn Boyd
    Long Jelavic

Bearing in mind The dominant foot of certain players and that Quinn and Brady have a good understanding together on the left.

Sagbo to come on for Jelavic if he tires, and Faye for Figgy if he doesn't seem comfortable.
