How's about to keep us away from the madness of deadline day we talk about tomorrow's big game, with us in the bottom 3 and our next two games against Liverpool and Manure we could really do with a result Hows about .....................Stekelenburg...................... Riether.......Burn.........Hangeland........Tunnicliffe ...............Parker...........Sidwell...................... Dejagah............Holtby..............Kacanicklic ......................,Mitroglou.....................
This. I've just posted in the transfer window thread about Tunnicliffe. I've just realised that I saw him play a month ago, for Ipswich against Bournemouth. I'll not repeat what I've just typed, but he definitely played as a central midfielder that day.
Okay, apart from two of the starting 11 not actually playing for us, and if they were signed and it is after midday they wouldn't be eligible, I think.
Tunnicliffe isn't a left back and we won't play any of the new players as they won't be registered in time or fit enough.
Fulhaman is right, anyone registered before midday today is eligible for the weekend. I could see Mitroglou starting if he makes that deadline, particularly if Berba has also departed by then. Other than that, I agree that we're not likely to see many of the new boys. Kvist said yesterday that he'd already had (and enjoyed) his first training session with his new team mates so maybe he might sneak in, but I wouldn't hold my breath for the others tomorrow. I'm not sure that fitness would be an issue for any of them though.
I'll be interested to see how deadline day affects the bookies odds on a Fulham victory. We're at 13/5, 9/4 and 23/10 at the moment http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/fulham-v-southampton/winner
Tunnicliffe was the third member of the celebrated midfield triumvirate in the Manchester United academy team a few years back, alongside Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison. One can only hope he's more like Paul Pogba in personality than Ravel Morrison!
Ferguson really dropped the ball on Pogba - I don't know what happened there, they let him go for a nominal fee and he ends up being Europe's Golden Boy and is now linked with e70m deals to PSG. He could have been part of the spine they built around.
If I remember rightly, Pogba wanted guaranteed first-team status, Fergie couldn't guarantee it, Pogba didn't sign a new contract.
I can't remember who would have been ahead of him at that time- maybe Scholes coming back from retirement a catalyst?
That sounds about right. Fergie always considered Pogba a talent for the future, but Pogba wanted it there and then. They could do with him now!
I think only Kvist and Holtby can, as they were signed before 12pm today (if the paperwork went through on time).
Posted this in the window thread, thought I'd bung it here for completeness (even though not much of it is actually about the game tomorrow, understandably).
So, I'm thinking we'll go with something like: .....................Stekelenburg...................... Riether.......Burn.........Hangeland........Richardson ...............Parker...........Sidwell...................... Dejagah............Holtby..............Kacaniklic .......................Bent..................... Kvist will likely be competing with Karagounis and Sidwell for that third spot in the midfield.
I'd go for; Stek; Riether, Burn, Hangeland, Richardson; Parker, Karagounis; Holtby; Kaca, Dejegah; Bent
Evening All, Good window for you guys. I saw Llarnell Cole in a reserve game last season and thought he looked like a hell of a talent. Holtby is exactly what you needed. (Hard working forward player) as in our reverse game this season it was far too easy for us to play out of defence. Good reviews about the Greek guy too I know it's very rare in the premier league, but it's been absolutely pelting it down here all day. Has it been raining again in the big smoke and is their any danger of the game being called off? Or do you have excellent drainage?
No chance of game being called off. It's been raining since about 2pm but there's good drainage at the Cottage and we had worse on Boxing day.
