A bit late but at least it now looks like we're trying to get him some experience. What's/how's he been doing, does anyone know? I remember we paid a decent amount but didn't realise it was £100k, I'm surprised Phil Brown hasn't asked about a loan deal, surely he must have rated him.

Scarborough Athletic are poised to make a hefty loan signing ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sutton Coldfield Town.

It may not be transfer deadline day in Boro’s league, but they have moved to snap up attacker Jack Barlow from Hull City in a landmark deal for the Evo-Stik South club.

Boro are hoping to field Barlow at Sutton Coldfield, as he is expected to sign until the end of the season on Friday afternoon.

The move comes as a part of the impressive link-up with Premiership side Hull, while Boro have also forged links with Blue Square Premier outfit Grimsby Town this season.

Through these links Boro have brought in Sam O’Malley from the Mariners, while keeper Joe Cracknell and now Barlow have arrived from the KC Stadium.

Barlow started his career with Grimsby, before joining the Tigers for £100,000 in 2009 at the tender age of 15.

He has yet to figure for Hull’s first team, but the East Yorkshire club are keen for him to gain some match practice in the remaining months of the current campaign.

Boro’s ex-Hull midfielder Bryan Hughes said: “Hull have big expectations for Jack, but they need him to get some game-time.

“Because of our links with City they asked us to take him on board and we obviously said yes.

“He was signed for a lot of money as a youngster and things haven’t quite worked out for him, as yet.

“The loan deal is great news for us though because he is a two-footed player, who will get on the ball and create things.”

Hughes feels that competition for places is vital at the moment as Boro look to put together another run of results.

He is also looking forward to taking the trip back down to Birmingham, where he spent seven years as a player wearing the blue of City.

“We need to keep freshening things up because the lads have probably played a season’s worth of games already,” added Hughes.

“It is getting towards the business end of the season now and we need to get some results together to help us towards out aim of getting into the play-offs

“Saturday’s game at Sutton Coldfield is a fixture I’m excited about because we are going down to Birmingham, which is a place I spent a lot of time as a player - hopefully a few City fans will come down and have a look.

“We didn’t have the best of results when we played there last time, losing 4-2 to Romulus, though the result was probably worse than our performance.

“We’ll be looking to do a little better on Saturday and get a result against Sutton.”

Dont think he kicked on at all. Was hardly getting in the youth team last few years. Some fall by the wayside after early promise. Good luck to him.

It's a bit bad if we're having to tout our development squad around at Scarborough's level.

(Read the article, they didn't come to us asking about him, we went to them asking if they'd take him)

He got a guaranteed youth contract as part of the deal when he signed from Grimsby.
If he hadn't I think he would of been released after his first year.

This was mentioned last time his name came up, we're releasing him at the end of the season, so effectively he's gone now.
