George Caulkin ‏@CaulkinTheTimes 49s Poyet confirms that #Safc still looking for "one extra" player in light of Cattermole bid. British-based. No names.
Yeh it's going to be close he may go.i would like to keep him to finish off our season.then again if the price is right for us now we may not get it in august window.
Yep, last used round midnight There's three active threads on Catts. Everybody saying keep him. The consensus is consistent.
Stoke? No. 1 We shouldn't sell to teams around us 2 They buy on the never-never. Wasn't it £2m per year for Kenwyne? x
I would of guessed that the player coming in if we sold Catts would be Banega...however apparently the player is British based...
GUS Poyet has admitted Lee Cattermole could be a Stoke player before the end of today after an âimpressiveâ late bid from the Potters. The Black Catsâ boss was an hour late for his scheduled Press conference this afternoon because he was involved in talks with the Potters over the Teessiderâs future. And although the head coach said that the deal might not necessarily go through and that he personally would have preferred to keep the 25-year-old, the signs are that Cattermole will leave the Sunderland before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight. Poyet explained: âWe were not expecting to do any business today unless an incredible opportunity came up either way. âBut from this morning we have been dealing with a situation with Lee Cattermole, where an impressive offer has come in for him. âWe cannot say anything because it is still ongoing. âIt looks like he is not going at this very moment in time but it changes by the hour and it would be very difficult to explain everything going on.â Cattermole has had an injury and missed Sunderlandâs victory over Stoke City midweek and is not expected to be fit for the weekend. But despite the signing of defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt today, Poyet still sees a role for Cattermole if the move does not go through. âIt is very difficult for me as a manager,â said the Uruguayan. âI would like to keep the group of players we have got today and I was confident on Thursday evening that we would keep them until the end of the season. âI never expected this with Lee. âWe had an offer the other day which was very simple to turn down and nothing happened during the day after that, so I thought that was fine. âBut Stoke came back with a big price and thatâs the problem, every player has a price. They have put us in a difficult situation. âIt puts him in a difficult situation too. âI was looking forward to having him and Liam Bridcutt fighting for that place because they are both leaders. âNow everything can change and it is not easy.â ..................................................................................... I don't want to see him go, especially to one of our relegation rivals, we should be strengthening not weakening the squad FFS.
****, sorry, just posted another one before reading all this. I'll give myself a bollocking later on.
Would be a mistake to sell him now. Nothing good can come of selling him today but it could hurt us. Imagine if Brid got injured/sent off. Brid can't play cup final anyway. Keep Catts for now at least.
Rather he stayed but take the club's point that every player has his price. Strange choice for Hughes though - he's forever moaning about ref's decisions going against him and Catts is not going to change that in a positive way is he?
