OK this saga has now gone to the "board". Who is on the board after Graham Taylor and Stuart Timperley and what are their football credentials. I can just hear one of Baz's grannies saying "wow that's a lot of money, MacKay can't be that special!" If anyone has any of this detail then it would be good to share it.
For the Baz-haters, it's time to make your mind up... a) Graham and Buckley transfers were routine, we knew we had to sell players to survive. Graham was always going to leave after being top-scorer of the League, and the money we got for both transfers was fair, not great but ok. b) MM bid was rejected. That was the only thing that could be done. c) Redeveloping the Ground has been discussed. d) Departures from the Boardroom are annoying, as Winter and Stephenson were doing a good job, but they left, they weren't fired. Now make your minds up? Is Baz trying to make a quick buck? No. Otherwise Malky would already be gone at the first bid. He's supported his manager, said we were going to have a bit of money to invest, and we've sold enough to cover us in the short-term. Is he incompetent? Not so far, he hasn't done anything that wrong. Can everyone please stop this Doomsday scenario stuff, things have been in the past a LOT worse than they will be in the 2011/2012 season...
Well said Toby It seems some people think under the previous lot things would have been different. They said before there were no plans for stadium development, players would have to be sold etc... I can't see Bas has done anything the previous lot wouldn't have! Who knows, bids for these people might have been accepted earlier!!
I have to agree with the last two comments. Things are not what we would like to see, but then none of us had the money or contacts to move in and buy the club.
We lost Smith, Williamson, Mcanuff, Priskin and more all in one summer when Rodgers left. I'm a lot more confident with our squad now than I was back then. Our money situation is better, all the high earners have been moved on, we have lots of promising youngsters and technically MM is still ours... Things really aren't that bad
I'm not annoyed with Baz, if Malky has had clandestine talks with Cardiff, then it's him I'm disappointed with.
Absolutely correct. Just because he's not spoken to us if he's been speaking with Cardiff illegally then he's in the Rodgers mould rather than the GT. Jury is out until we get the truth.
I agree - if Malky resigns and has spoken to them about this move, he will be in the same bracket as Brendan for me. I will be very disappointed in him
Seeing that it's it appears almost certain that MM is off, should we start thinking about a replacement?
Talksport are reporting he has resigned.... until it is on a more reputable souorce, will hold my breath, bit isn't looking good... So, who next? We're bound to hire on a budget, like always, but who could we attract? Obviouslt candidate from within is Dyche, then is the 'sentimental' ones like Gibbs, Hessenthaler or even someone like giving Luther a shot. Someone who has worked with constraints, having to bring though youngsters is Ronnie Moore at Rotherham, but how much will he cost!!
I haven't heard that MM has resigned, but hardly unexpected. I want us to move on now and plan without him. The league fixtures are out tomorrow, so I hope that focuses a few minds.
Oops, missed that one, cheers!! Doubt he'll be on the radar, but thought he might come cheap, has a lot of experience of bringing through youngsters and might be able to nurture SD until he is ready in a couple of seasons time!
Think Moore would be a good shout (if he'll come down south). Love to see Luther or Gibbsy back, but we'll end up with Glen Roeder or Harry Bassett!!! Can't believe I'm talking about potential new managers.
Good sensible and non dramatic comments here this morning. Baz has done much as we would have expected in everything so far and no different to any other past owner. Only if we had the F1 team or rich Arabs would the path have diverged by now - and we don't - and would we want them anyway
If he has resigned, I will not hold my breath as Shearer had been appointed the other evening, then it will just strengthen my belief that things are very bad behind the scenes and he could not wait to get an offer. Could the departure of Winter who seemed to be getting the club out of the mess and was reported as saying that things would be done now in a different manner have contributed to it?
