If you want to be pedantic, has he ever said we can finish in the top eight, or TRY to finish in the top eight?
Yes. Look in that May 2013 article you posted up! ""Hopefully Manchester United can do us a favour and if we then beat Fulham, we would be eighth."
Probably not otherwise I expect he would be lambasted by many for being a dreamer and unrealistic and needing to focus on our survival in the Prem ... blah, blah, blah.
Exactly - nicely put. ML is simple and pragmatic. HJ is deliberately undermining and destructive. Why ... to what end. Compromises the best interests of the club.
So no one can say anything adverse about Sir Mike but you can all assassinate Jenkins, a man who has helped steer the Club from the foot of Division 4 to The Premiership? It is obvious that both parties have made mistakes along the way.
Huws fantastic , love him and he's usually right on the money . Not this time though , took things personal to the detriment of the club .Leave Laudrup do and say what he wants and take care of your job Huw , like you generally do .
Oh my god, a minor error! But that doesn't deflect from the debate about the effect of Laudrups perceived negativity on the psychology of the players and the Club.
I don't think anyone on here wants a public spat between HJ and ML. Obviously things have got out of hand, but to put it all at Huw's door is wrong.
This is the first time I seen any bad said toward Huw , you make it sound like people crap all over Huw on a regular basis. Huw made Our manager look bad , without reason to boot imo . Think it will all be fine but it was just so out of character for Jenkins, bordering on stupidity really .
No it isnt worng, Huw Jenkins was the one who went to the Daily Mail, purposely contridicting our managers words , he has done it again in the program notes, what has Laudrup said to upset relations ?? The manager talks about the team, the chairman stays behind the scenes making sure things like recall clauses in contracts are correct and in the best interests of SCFC , thats how it should work. Another point, and many people wont admit it, but saving the club was down to many people not just Huw Jenkins and they or us should not be using that as a get out of jail free card !! they are getting paid a major slice of cash now and need to do the job they are paid to do,which is to run the football club in a professional manner !! I dont give a toss if Huw and Laudrup hate each others guts, but there should be a professional relationship as a minimum requirment , it sounds like Huw is taking things a bitpersonal to me and that isnt good for the future of our club. Truth is that SCFC will always be battling to stay in the prem league due to how its run financially, what ever manager we have we will be faced with this problem ,huw needs to chill out and accept that we are small fish and what ever we get is a bonus, maybe he is worried about not having a dividend if we go down ??
The way that Huw said it may be wrong, but who knows? He may have given Sir Mike a warning about being negative and Sir Mike ignored it. It is not as though Jenkins constantly washes our dirty laundry in public so things may well have been bad behind the scenes. Unprofessional by Huw - probably. Or was he sending a clear message to the fans that the Board has higher aspirations than Sir Mike? After all, he'll probably be gone in a few months. (Sir Mike that is!)
IMO - all of the HJ / ML controversy is just hyped up nonsense. What is the origin of the "rumor". Who are the "sauces". It would be bad business on the Club's part to denegrate the manager on purpose at this point in the season or at any time come to that. Curious as to why "everybody" has to flock around HJ trying to justify his statements and pin something on Laudrup .... is there / was there any real intent on HJ's part to speak against Laudrup ... really.
I'd be the first to point out any Gaff from Huw Jenkins, and have been in the past with some of his media statements, but when I read Laudrup's words on this league within a league, and the untouchables at the top, well I thought what a view to project in the pursuit of excellence from your squad? And when Jenkins stated his frustrations over this, I could only support the chairman and board. I like Laudrup immensely, but there are aspects to his management I'm not that impressed with, not least his lack of presence and personality on the touch line, but still I'm sure he'll go down as one of our best Managers, and while the last time we had issues like this under the Sousa era, I was in fact supportive of Sousa against a huge tide of support for Jenkins, at the end of the day all these managers bring good, and bad, it's only human nature...............
Is Jenkins that powerful that the Board won't rein him in? Do you think he would make those comments to the Press without the backing of the majority of the Board members? Something has obviously gone astray behind the scenes.
Anyone who knows how a Boardroom works, or should work, will know that the media statement by Huw Jenkins was a decision from the Swansea City FC Board!...............
