All I can find is that he used expletives when describing his current employer??? Sounds like there may be no way back for Wessi if it's true, shame.
Do you mind taking a look at another team's players for a change? Pilks, Redmond, Johnson, now Hoolahan. I'd be torn on that one. On the one hand Villa are less likely to be relegation candidates, particularly if Benteke is returning to form, so him going to Villa wouldn't harm us, but then selling anyone to Paul Lambert is difficult to stomach. Swansea are more likely to be in the mix come May, so helping them out would hinder us more, but I kinda like Swansea, Wes would be a reasonable fit there and it'd be nice to see him in a team that can use him, and Swansea are more likely to give us a decent transfer fee that Villa. I'm just praying we make a wonder signing out of the blue, so we don't really need to worry where Wes ends up. I still want to see Davy Propper in yellow and green.
The statement Wes issued after his transfer request was rejected spoke of his "respect" for NCFC: "However I believe it's in the best interest of Norwich, for whom I have the greatest respect, and myself that I am allowed to move on and play my football elsewhere." Hmm! Either there's nothing in the rumour or his statement meant nothing.
Feel sorry for Wes Hoolahan who paying the price for being the type of player he is. CH clearly does not feel that he fits into the playing style of the team (whatever that is) and so he is getting very little time on the pitch. If NCFC feel that he is almost surplus to requirement why let him go where he will play more often? The same can be said for Becchio who should be given a chance now that RvW is proving that he was a waste of money. If there was a problem today at Colney then clearly his frustration has spilt over and to a certain extent I can understand why it happened.
Wes is a professional under contract to NCFC; he's in the 25-man PL squad and the club have said he is not surplus to requirements. That should be it. The sooner the transfer window shuts the better.
I have a certain amount of sympathy with Hoolahan, he's obviously frustrated and can see the window about to slam shut. Using expletives in regard to his employer? I do that every day about my employer! No issue there, the issue is that he was recorded doing it.
Apparently he called Norwich a "****ing ****hole". I can't say that particularly offends me as it doesn't really surprise me that he would be saying things like that privately if he wants out. It was very naive to say that in front of a reporter though, even if it was off-air.
Wait til he gets to Birmingham , in all fairness though, why are we keeping a player who we won't use and clearly doesn't want to be at the club, the whole thing is ridiculous.
I can't help if you're blessed with quality . looking and getting and so far removed from each other and as I said rumours
I'm all for sticking to your principles and ignoring Villa. Relationships make the world go round and they, along with Lambert, have only themselves to blame for no longer being trustworthy to deal with. But frankly, it's quite clear that Hoolahan is desperate to leave. I'm not offended by what he said (it seems like it could well be true) but if he's stupid enough to say it, then we're better rid of him with a smile. I'm a huge fan of his style of football and I think he's a decent player, but I've always found him an arrogant and miserable tosser, so I'm not too fussed on that front either. So if Swansea want him, sell him to them, I say, and we should be grateful for whatever pitiful sum they offer, it'll probably be more than we paid. He'll fit in fine there, with his style, but he won't make a huge difference to their season other than strength in depth. I can't see him starting, so I'm not sure how it helps him on that front. As for us, he'll be no great loss. Yes, he offers something no-one else in the team does, but if he was the solution to our problems then they would already have been sold. We need a better player than Hoolahan, and more likely more than one, to really make a difference. So losing him will hardly be a big deal.
Didn't know where you and Maestro sat at your place so took a crowd shot or two to see if you were maybe on one of them. Not what you'd call good pics. Don't think I'd get drunk at your place at £4.80 a pint.
if i've read kate riley's tweet correctly wes has said nothing you wouldn't really expect from a player who feels like the world is against him. rough translation: KR: 'hi wes, how's things?' WH: 'f**king ****' who wouldn't have said that in his position? he's not slagged off the club. he's not slagged off the fans. he's just deeply unhappy at what he sees as an impossible situation. the issue i have is that he has ultimately caused this situation himself. i love wes to bits but he isn't a regular in this team because he doesn't do enough when he plays and that will be the case at any premier league club, not just norwich. he is on the fringes of the first team because he isn't quite good enough anymore. he has never been frozen out by the manager - if anything, he has frozen himself out by refusing to play. before villa's interest he had played a part in two-thirds of our matches this season. i know he isn't enjoying it at the moment but he is being totally unprofessional and having got to know the guy a little over the years i can assure everyone that this is totally out of character. this has all kicked off because of paul lambert who is no doubt chuckling away in the corner at the turmoil unfolding due to his 'cheeky' bid. wes has stated he wants a new challenge - that is fine - but it's not actually his choice anymore. he signed a new three year contract last season. he is employed by this football club to participate when required. it is not his choice whether he plays or not. he should knuckle down if he doesn't get his move (and i don't think he should get his move) and try and influence things for norwich city because let's be honest, as good as wes hoolahan has been for our club, our club have been bloody good for him too.
I wonder what Wes is feeling now, especially after Lambert has openly said, "If we don't get anyone else in I'm quite happy." That doesn't sound like Wes is that sought after by him. Well, not to me it doesn't anyway.
let's look at this from lambert's point of view. • puts in a cheeky bid for a player he likes knowing full well that it will be rejected. • starts talking openly in the press about his admiration for hoolahan. • player has head turned and thinks 'i'm not playing every week here, i want to go' • player hands in transfer request after talks (probably about either playing more often or getting a longer deal or both, which fall on deaf ears) • lambert now backs off in his pursuit and watches the turmoil unfold at carrow road • still to come - will lambert make another cheeky last minute bid today? i reckon he might i don't personally think lambert really cares if he gets hoolahan. if he gets him he'll be pleased because he's acquired a useful squad player. if he doesn't he's caused major disruption at his former club. lambert won't want hoolahan in the summer - everyone knows that. the player knows this is his only chance or he'll likely end up in the championship next season. as soon as lambert made that first bid he was in a win-win situation and we were in a lose-lose situation. either we lose an important squad player who has a legendary status, who many fans idolise, or we keep a deeply unhappy player whose reputation is tarnished. wes is just a pawn in a game between a childish paul lambert and a stubborn david mcnally. i did feel sorry for him but i don't now. he needs to concentrate on his job, for which he is handsomely paid.
Well if Wes said what people are saying he said, then he should be hung, drawn, and quartered, and despite his many qualities, sold, but never to Lambert.
if you read the tweet in question - the source of the incident - you'd have to say that his comments, although disrespectful to the manager and his situation, have been blown out of all proportion. he was talking about his situation, not his dislike for the club, as stated in a few press outlets. indeed, in his transfer request statement he talked of his love for the club. but as far as the press are concerned, that's not going to make a great story, is it...
