Was it actually 20 million US dollars? That's odd.

Agree though that the optional fee means nothing. It's only a benefit to the other club. If he's not worth $20 million, they don't exercise the option. If he ends up being worth $30 million for some strange reason, then they have themselves a bargain. We need some kind of decent loan fee in exchange.

I don't think we necessarily *need* anything, other than someone to cover his wages and make him a saleable asset come the summer.....

 

Gallagher is brilliant. He is going to be a big player.

He showed willingness and determination in every game he has featured in.

He clearly wants to succeed!

 

I imagine if you go and talk to Jonathan Forte, he'd tell you he really wanted to succeed too.

Gallagher may have missed, but so do other strikers...at least he was in the right place. He was level with JRod when the ball was put behind him to Adam for the goal. He looks like he has the talent and the brain...only time will tell if he matures into a top striker.

 

He just wanted to be quick.

 

And it doesn't hurt that Juve has essentially provided confirmation of our (rather astronomical, given the circumstances) valuation in the option price. If Osvaldo does well, we have every reason to expect that we'll at least recoup his transfer fee even if Juve doesn't pick up the option, which is a minor miracle.

Forte obviously isn't a great player, but I will always remember that game vs MK Dons, where he turned it around for us. Granted, everyone's grandmother could have scored them but he was there at the right time.

 

And it's World Cup year, so if he does well in that. The fee will go up again if Juve don't want him.

 

What I mean is he's been given a chance, he took it, twice in a few days, and impressed on both. So why change now?

Opposition will know little about him. Personally I wouldn't change the team that started against Arsenal.

I wouldn't drop Gallagher to the bench just because Lambert is back in the squad.

 

I'd like to see Senderos trying to keep up with Gallagher, too.

 

Mata will end up in the same situation when with Chelsea

 

They haven't provided confirmation of anything. They have an option to buy which they are under no obligation to exercise. They can still offer €10m or less in the summer if they want to, or they can send him back and offer nothing.

 

If they aren't paying for the loan and just covering wages, Juventus isn't going to feel much pressure to play him and they have other options.

 

They might not even be covering his wages. This is what happens when you're desperate to shift someone...
