Couldn't they have at least had the suspension eliminated or reduced? The red was obviously harsh and uncalled for.
This. At the end of the day the rules are the rules are the rules, and violent conduct is violent conduct. A shame, but there you go.
Because the offence is kicking or attempting to kick, so technically a red card but common sense should have been exercised.
Bradley Johnson has had his ban overturned. Compare what he did to McGregor. Football's a ****ing joke sometimes.
They actually squared up to each other aggressively which is more than McGregor did. Neither of them headbutted but Johnson threw himself on the floor pretending to be nutted and he's come out the winner after all that. He managed to set someone sent off with his cheating and he gets let off the same punishment for the same thing. Cheating is promoted in football.
Remy pressed his head against Johnson's. That constitutes a headbutt as far as a red card is concerned. Sagbo got sent off for less.
After watching it a few times i still dont see what Mac did. He sort of holds his leg out to Okeefe, maybe a slight knee out but no contact.
Neither did more than the other. Johnson fooled the ref with his rolling around. Seems to have fooled you with it too.
Hasn't fooled me at all. Of course he throws himself to ground stupidly. That doesn't change the fact that it was Remy who initiated contact and is therefore the headbutter.
What about a retrospective ban for the dangerous challenge by O'Keef that led to McGregor getting sent off? That was a more fitting sending off.
I don't see what the FA/FIFA get out of giving bans for petty **** like the Mcgregor and Remy incidents. Tempers rise in the heat of the moment and neither of them caused **** all harm. All it does is encourage others to do it, like PLT says.
This was the second foul on the goalkeeper to stop him playing the ball out quickly. Pullis makes a point of claiming his team's are well drilled and disciplined. I very much doubt that two of his players independently decide to take booking for clattering the goalkeeper so late it was a premeditated assault. It looks very much as if both fouls were intentional and if not told to by Pullis then with his blessing and probably planned on the training pitch. This is the man who at Stoke had towels sown into player's shirts, had the wall practise creeping forward when the ref turns his back. I just think nothing is beneath the man when it comes to bending the rules to destruction.
