If a player is only interested in money then he will go to the highest payers (salah sigurdsson etc). If he genuinely wants to play for a top four club and the chance to play alongside one of the best players in the world he will come to us. If he doesn't then I don't want him.
The ones who snubbed us before and gone elsewhere have not exactly set the world alight have they,

umm Costa? Willian looks good at Chelsea. has anyone actually watched the German league to make a real view on Mkhitaryan?

We never missed out on Costa tbh as it was never actually going to happen, it was crystal clear he was just flirting a bit to grab a big shiny new contract at Atletico

snubbed only including going to a rival or just turning us down? Costa turned us down but you can't help but think if you had someone other than ayre, a better chance would have come of it!
 
I think Kono is pretty much nailed on.

And if we really wanted Salah, we would have pushed for him. Fact is, Basel wanted us to match Chelsea's offer.

Kono was always our number 1 target - we were just waiting until the summer to pursue. Salah would have been a very good 'cheap' option at £10m in this window.

Why raise our offer to £16m when we could force the issue with our number 1 target?

If we pull it off, I'd say the committee did a good job. <ok>

I agree on Mkhi, haven't watched him enough too know. Costa is playing very well but he was never going too come to us tbh. Willian obviously, like Salah wants the money so forget about them both.

We also dodged bullets with Sigurdsson and Dempsey.

Costa stayed where he was but by his own words was very close to joining us but couldnt bring himself to leave Ath Madrid

Roughly translated as they gave me lots more money!

Cant blame him really, in cl challenging for Spanish league

going to state the bloody obvious here, but why the **** did we pursue a player that wasn't an upgrade on what we have ie cheap(waste of money that would have been) to now go for our original target for the summer any way?

if we can improve the team now, why the **** was we settling for 2nd best when he should have been the target all along?

Possibly because:

a) We didn;t have the money at the time when we started our pursuit.
b) Konoplyanka stated a number of times that wasn't going to leave in January.
c) Salah was still a target as well as Kono and we wanted both.

Salah was still an upgrade on what we have and would have started for us. <ok>
