The 13 players on the field in Saints shirts last night cost us about the same in transfer fees as Arsenal paid us for Alex Chamberlain.
Just gone through this game again on Sky. Confirmed that the Flamini incident was a red card...only Wenger seemed to doubt it. Also pointed out that the fact that the ref showed the red card so fast prevented further argument...said that the Saints team calmed down instantly.
Toughest game of the season without doubt, but we'll do our best. Who do you want to win the title then Lapras?
After the Rafael one v Chelsea which wasn't punished, I'm sure the refs have been "reminded" to make sure two-footed tackles are early bath offences. So it was an open and shut case for the ref, with his perfect view.
Definitely Arsenal. It'd be a great way for Wenger to stick two fingers up at his critics! That's true. No offense, I'm happy for you to hammer anyone else, just not Arsenal (or us obviously, but I doubt we'll be playing any time soon)
Take a look at http://www.footballorgin.com/2014/01/premier-league-2013-2014-southampton-vs.html Choose the first half then look at 43:30 (on the video time, not the minute of the game). There's a bit of fast-forwarding where someone was messing with the feed then it cuts to one of the passes of the season from Calum to Sam. I noticed it at the time and convinced myself it couldn't have been as good as it looked live (you know, the moment you rave about then on MOTD it looks as dull as ditchwater). Not this one, oh no. Perfection. Utter perfection. The vision, the accuracy, the pace, the run; all perfect. Vin
Was Clyne injured on Tuesday? Thought Chambers had a great game but was surprised MP put him in front of Clyne.
Just shows the progress he has made. Only a couple of months back Clyne was being talked about as a world cup possible now he has a fight on his hands to get a start.
Chambers is far superior going forward a better 'wing-back' Not as good defensively but Clyne hardly put a cross in for the first 10 games.
Chambers may have put in more crosses, and has managed a couple of good ones, but in general his supply is even more erratic. Clyne put in 36 crosses and 10 found a teammate, whilst Calum has put in 52 and managed only 9 accurate ones. What's more Chambers has only made 3 key passes to Clyne's 12, and no assists compared to Clyne's 2. Chambers is an outstanding player for his age but objectively he has been no better than Clyne going forwards and there is no way in hell he is 'far superior'.
