You must be talking about Perth, Australia! Can't agree with you there SB, Perth may be nice to look at but it's a sh1thole when you get behind the tourist scene - don't like the place one bit, and have done plenty of work there. Have seen a bit of May on SPL shows up here, certainly knows where the goal is, but when you're faced with defenders who are slower than Richard Dunne with his boots tied together then it isn't that hard. His confidence will be high - if we sign him, I hope he gets a chance, and not just warming the bench like Chevy. There are some good players up here, and they would be a relative bargin compared to English/European targets but it is a big step up in class for anyone including Celtic players. You only have to look at the league (Celtic 18 points clear and it's still January!) to see how one-sided the competition is up here
He was brought in to cover injuries was never planned to stay, wasn't given a chance because he was cover ! I know nothing about May, so looking forwards to happy surprise, I hope.
Only seen the pretty tourist side on the way up to the Highlands Steel. I'll take your word for the dark side. Watching Match of the Day now - I'm not sure Premiership defending is anything to write home about given the number of goals being scored.
A lot of expensive, "proven" players have failed when they have joined other clubs. Why not have a punt on a cheap, unproven (at this level) player?
What? ... AJ was injured but we were still playing a lone striker. You are right about one thing we have to hope ... I am no stranger to hope believe you me. What concerns me is the story of QPR to date since Harold and how that story has twisted and turned to suit well .... Harold Harold is a great celebrity , maybe even nice and great to watch but I feel strongly that I can see through that ... Sorry blaming the market etc and then saying he has no influence and nothing to do with transfers is food I will never eat. On talksport again this morning a little pop that the Ntep deal is off because of stuff outside his control etc etc ...I just don't get this at all pick a player you want and then do everything to buy him. how can you have so many targets? its daft no one player is the same It has left this board with fans who are grabbing at straws as each and every name is suggested and then later we then turn on the players ... cannot anyone on here see that pattern and what it means long term? Ideally we will one day have great young talent coming through and be big enough to keep the talent.
Lets hope so DT - can only improve once Warren Farm has been built, but to keep the talent we need to be a stable Premier League club, pushing at the top end of the table - only a very small minority of the PL clubs can hold on to any of their players. Any player who is that talented will want Champions League football, and as great an optimist that I am, I don't see us sitting at the top table of footballs elite for a good few years. Hopefully the new ground will propel us into a top eight team in PL, but there's still a long way to go - buckle and and enjoy the ride cos there'll be a lot more ups and downs before then!
Just watched some videos about him. Looks promising and certainly knows wheres the goal is. Worth of try i guess but only with another (hope better) striker comes along too. Good reminder from sku earlier about "modern day paul wright" . What happened to the original by the way? Homesick?
We are a small club, we cant just decide who we want and they will drop everything to join us. Anyone who thinks that is deluded. January is always an extremely difficult transfer market. If Harry didnt have loads of potential targets, he wouldn't be doing his job properly. Complaints if he gets weak players in, comlplaints if he pays too much.....ffs
Its Friday tomorrow, we need cover, the options are not vast it seems, I say give this one a go, he looks good and there was a time when young Scottish strikers used to come down to England and do very well. Nicholas/McAvennie/Archibald/Gray - bigger clubs than us took a punt on these guys at a young age and it paid off big style, its got to be worth a look. He's out of contract soon, has got to be relatively cheap, he's 21, has a good goal scoring record in a mediocre Scottish team. Let's do it!
Not to mention about Law and Dalglish.....I believe he wont cost too much and is a worth of try even as a super sub! Then again i wont believe that we actually are signing someone before it is in the official page.
The new training facility will make a big difference but you don't have to be an EPL team to have a strong and successful youth policy. Crewe and Southampton have been highly successful at developing young players.
True, but my point was that we need to be a successful Premier League team to keep hold of them once they've come through the ranks - as both Crewe and Southampton can attest to
