    First time since August 26th.

Fantastic effort from Gus to have steered the sinking ship to this point. Yes it was nervy and yes we didn't perform to any great level despite the man advantage but it doesn't matter at all. 3 massive points tonight.

We go to **** James Pk in good fettle and we have been far better away from home. We also go with a new striker on board and the prospect of 1 or 2 more perhaps still to come, into a major Cup Final and still scrapping in the FA Cup.

With hapless Hull to follow, a point on Saturday will be a good result and the light at the end of the tunnel grows slightly brighter.

Mr Poyet has turned this club around with hard graft from the same players and honesty to us fans,

This month - even if no-one else comes in - he has improved the squad.

Clever man. I only hope he has the bug all of us on here have. The Sunderland bug

Shame the attendance was a bit low, but then Stoke are not the most exciting prospect. But you're right. Gus has done a heck of a job since he got here. You think we may actually have hired the right man for the job for the first time in what seems like an eternity?

    Sid

It's his frank speaking that impresses me.

I just hope we can keep him. I think he was brought in with the Championship in mind!

I suggested a couple of weeks ago that if he kept us up, especially with our Wembley Final and FA Cup run this season, he should be a major contender for Manager of the Season (or manager of the part season at least) because we were dead and buried and on our last gasp of air before he strolled into town way back on October 8th.

Special mention for Adam Johnson as well for his very influential pre and post Christmas goal threat. We are starting to get the end product we all hoped form the lad now and after the stick he has taken, he deserves the credit. His goal tonight was a real strikers goal, following the shot in and gambling (something neither Jozy or Fletcher are doing much of this season) so well played lad.

It was ugly as **** but all that matters is we are out of the bottom 3, psychologically, the players will take a massive lift from that.

Thought Jozy was alright tonight, ironically it was the usually stand out Ki that minged. Little matter, we won, Vito is god , and we go off the the portakabin on the hill in great shape.

Usually when I'm designated driver, we draw, this is the first time there has been a positive or negative result when I've been taxi. Boring fact for you kids (11th time, BTW)

Thing is GG that Altidore and Fletcher dont look like scoring in this set up and if its the set up that makes them look poor, they will have to go. Scocco looks more mobile and nippy and better for the shape Gus is looking to play. I think there will be another striker of this pacy, quick footed style coming in this summer and all 3 of Wickham, Altidore and Fletcher will be moved on.

Oh don't get me wrong mate, I couldn't agree more.

I was mortified when we were even linked with Jozy, it was never, ever gonna work out, but Scocco & Borini will combine well.

Looks like Catts is a goner, after his 'up to the club' comments, suggesting he's been told he's going and then having been dropped. Not sure how I feel about it, but what I do know, is there are better players out there for us.

    Onwards, upwards and all that.

Apparantly Gus was poorly tonight hence the fact he was seen sat wrapped in a scarf and hat.
    Oatway took over touchline duties.

    I agree.

Also think we could do with a goal scoring centre midfielder.

By the way, Borini earlier this month said he wanted to go back to the bindippers for the start of next season to fight for his place.

Over the moon Cest. This is a great day. Screw the performance. Teams who win playing badly pick up more points then those who play well and lose.

2 points clear of relegation, 2 points behind the mighty Hull Tigers, 3 points off 11 and from 7 points adrift to 7 points off 10th place.

    Happy ****ing days! <party>
