This always happens because players want to come to the Prem. It looks sewn up and then the bright lights of London come into it. Most foreign players have only ever heard of London and know that there will be an existing community from their country there, saves them having to learn English. I have a bad feeling about this. We seem to scout for the rest of the Prem, they wait to see who we have found then go for them, except the crap ones who they let us have.
i assume you are referring to a verbal agreement. if £15 mill is what is required to get him and the club have to sell, if we have gone in under and another club comes along and gives them what they want, aren't they within their rights to cancel the verbal agreement they had with us, where as giving them the full amount they couldn't? if what i am saying is correct, for the sake of 150k more, this level of pissing about is a bit more than penny pinching in my view, its a disgrace. well a potential one obviously if all this is true.
Might be bullshit anyway. No one knows how credible this Ukrainian media outlet is or it's 'Russian sources' that are close to the deal.
Konoplyanka's representative: "The probability that he will move to England is very high. His new club could be Liverpool." Apparently!!
I don't think that price will be a problem. If Dnipro were to call us on it I'm sure we could stump up the extra £150k from somewhere. Other reports had said we'd offered £12M though. That might be a different story.
We've been watching him for over a year now and have sounded his club out about his availability in the past. I've no idea if we've now officially made an approach, but it isn't a stretch of the imagination to think we could have done. I hope so at least.
Well, Spuds usually try to get our targets so it wouldn't surprise me either...lots of competition there though for a starting spot.
They don't go for the club. It's the fact it is London. If your 24 and a millionaire London is a place you can enjoy yourself in, half of footballers look at the money first rather than the clubs ambition or even if they will get a game. This is why I hate the loan system as it enables clubs like City/Chelsea to buy up players to deny them to rivals then lend them out to strengthen other clubs against their rivals, knowing full well the players concerned will never get near their own 1st team.
Cartilage Free Captain (Spurs blogsite): This is the first I've heard of any Spurs interest in Konoplyanka and it's interesting that it hasn't come from an English outlet. Like the Chicharito story from yesterday, my guess is that his agent is throwing out our name to drum up some interest. We'll see if anything comes out of this story or it dies a quick death. I can't imagine we spend £15m on any winger this week.
TBF, cheesey as it sounds, if a player is willing to overlook the club and is more interested in the city then we aren't after that type of player. Also just show him this:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25287554
They have no reason to pimp him to clubs because no club will bid above his release clause. Unless they really badly need that £150,000...
Worth a fiver Not worry here. Didn't expect us to sign anyone and this came out the blue #nothingtolose
Btw, it would seem that as well as Spuds, Arsenal and United have looked at Konoplyanka recently (in the last year)...hopefully we can get there fast.
