The whole 'fatigue, one game too many' thing reminds me horribly of the last days of the Pardew regime. Anyone remember 'next week I'll pick my best players' as a silly quote? Maybe CP should try 'next week I'll put the players in their natural positions'. It all sings of a manager who is losing the plot. Sadly.
Just watched the "highlights". Donny could well have doubled their score, a very one-sided match. As things stand we're simply not good enough for this division.
We have shown against Leicester, Blackburn and Brighton that we can mix it up in this division. Alnwick, Wiggins, Solly (when fit), Morrison, Stephens, Cousins, and Kermit make up the core of a decent side, so it's not as though we are a dead loss. We are not, in my opinion, a bottom three side. Even the most anti-Powell supporters will admit our squad is lacking depth, yet Powell just makes the situation worse by jamming square pegs in round holes. Last night was a debacle that CP needs to own up to. Even his most avid acolytes must be questioning his judgement.
You have to, Ponders. Cp takes the plaudits when we win and has to be accountable when we lose. I've read his post match interview a couple of times and really can't make any sense of it. Can someone just give us a bit of good news?
U-18's play Southampton in the Youth Cup tonight. They are a very young team and will be up against one of the best Academies in England, but you can guarantee they will give a good account of themselves.
our youth team is the only thing going for us at the moment. every other interface we have with the club is shambolic. if we do go down, i have faith in the youth team to bring us back up.
