I said I'd take 0-0...thank god that's over. A point we never deserved, but somehow we're 12th and 6 clear of the drop. Johnson's no great loss, but we're still going to be a midfielder short. Emphasises the need to bring someone in.
Good point, rode our luck but maybe we were due some. Johnson out, Tetty in for Saturday and I'd take the same result.
Were we actually the home team? Poor reffing and stupidity from Johnson. At least Tettey will play against Cardiff but I think we can all agree that tonight's performance was hardly the most convincing even if we did get a good point out of it. Maybe Jonas can start in stead of Snodgrass in our next game? Snoddy is a great player but has yet to find form. Anyone else think Van Wolfswinkel was absolutely dreadful? OTBC
Piss poor - very few shots on goal, passing pretty dire and some out there did not want to play. As somebody recently stated "don't f.... lose" so he must be pleased. RvW possibly one of the biggest financial mistakes (at £8.5m) that Norwich City have made. Should have lost at least 3 - 0. IMO Hooper was our stand out player.
It's hard to judge strikers when they're getting literally no service, but there's a clear difference between them. Hooper bullies the defence much more and tries to win the ball in dangerous areas, and as our top scorer he's got the confidence to try his luck. RvW on the other hand generally drops deeper to try and link up the attacking play, but that leaves him too deep when play goes beyond him to then get on the end of things. He did seem a little off the pace tonight though, he was reacting to the ball rather than making instinctive runs. We'll see.
Agree with that DH. I thought City battled well in the second half and Snods had a great chance to grab all 3 points. As for shots on target, City had 2 and Newcastle had 3.
The wolf will only be as good as the service he gets.....which is ****ing dredfull ! The Newcastle team were always available for each other & looking to move the ball forward, city looked like rabbits in headlights, the only way they look is backwards ! It was 11 individuals out there tonight absolutely no team ethic or cohesion what so ever ! Another point, why did he take the only player off who had tried his hardest for the team all night? That man will be the death of me !
Actually I think John Ruddy worked the hardest. I can see why he subbed Hooper off with Johnson gone we had one midfielder and it was the logical move. I would currently rather see Wes or Elmander starting in place of a second striker at least until we get Howson back.
I assume you refer to Hooper? He took him off to put a midfielder on because without Johnson it was only Fer in the middle of the park. Thank god you are not a manager.
The game was so open at that point I felt we could have taken snoddy off and gone for it, but oh yes Hootun makes the changes now I'm getting confused with how we used to play !
Ruddy had an encouragingly solid game, but I wouldn't say he had to work particularly hard. Only three shots on target - one very good save which was from a deflection, another smart one when Remy nearly got it in the corner, but I'd say generally we were lucky because Newcastle didn't test Ruddy nearly as much as they should have. This was hardly like Marshall's performance against us
I agree with you - I would have tried to go for a 4-2-3 with Tettey and Fer behind Redmond, Elmander and Hooper. Might have left Martin vulnerable, but given the other player sent off was Remy, I think he would have been ok. But realistically, it's hard to criticise substitutions in those situations because it' such a lottery
He could easily have swapped Tetty for Snoddy, kept the midfield intact and kept a goal threat, shame to many like you have accepted the negative tactics from this manager.
Very condescending again Tipsy, did the thousands of collective groans not give you a hint that we didn`t want Hooper to come off ??Especially as our 2nd highest scoring striker on #1 already came off with Goalmachine Elmander replacing him. Thank god you are not a manager.
