OK - Apart from the fact that we use the FA laws first (which are taken from FIFA), where was the "excessive force" or "endangering the safety of an opponent" in that stupid challenge? Did anyone here think '****?' for the player, or, 'this player could be out for a bit here' or '****, I hope he's OK?'? But I do almost every other week with players like Shawcross, who constantly get away with dangerous tackles.
Even though by FIFA rules it is a red, that was a clean tackle (for a 2 footer). Why couldn't he just have used 1 leg. Odds are he'd still have got the ball and we might be leaving with 3 points.
I'd give Chez an 8, he f*cked up for the first, but he did keep us in the game after that. Agree on all the others
Can't argue with the red card, but I do agree I've seen worse tackles this season get away with a yellow. It was just the two footed thing which forced the ref's hand. If Flamini had been on the pitch then we could have nicked it, but to be honest we'd have been fortunate to come away with three points tonight.
Ehh. I'll compromise and say a 7 (even though he ****ed up that one I have no idea how the lino/ref didn't call a foul but he did step up later). Lack of a CM today cost us.
Um, no, would love to support you on this, but just no, can't. Two-footed = red. I agree that I see a lot of dangerous 1-footed challenges that don't get red, but that doesn't mean we want to allow 2-footed dangerous challenges, we just need to red-card the dangerous 1-footed ones.
I would be surprised if the FA used a different definition for this sort of offence, so I'm not sure why you would even mention that unless you can show that it is actually different! You do realise that you don't have to actually hurt the player or even have that intention in order for it to be dangerous right? Also a two footed tackle is always excessive force as you never have to go in two footed ever.
I just cant anticipate these player judgements - Monreal? Really? He wasn't that bad was he? I never see them coming, watched the whole game, you guys picked him out? Oh well!
I didn't think Monreal was that bad either. He made a mistake in our pen area in the first half that we got away with and he should have squared it to Giroud when he shot wide, but other than that I thought he did okay. Nobody was really that good today to be honest.
Nacho wasn't that bad. But today showed why Gibbs should be starting over him. And dammit he should have squared that off to Giroud (Ozil also should have when he hit the post but a shot in that position wasn't unreasonable unlike Nacho's)
OK - The 1st part was because the rules I quoted were FA rules, which the Prem adhere to and are worked down from the FIFA rules. The reason I mentioned them is because they are the rules we adhere to and entirely encompass the FIFA directives. & yes I am not stupid. I just do not think that particular challenge was dangerous. Piskie & TT - Monreal was at fault for both goals, f**ked up a lot of passes and missed a sitter. Gibbs, would not have messed up for either goal.
I agree Gibbs is stronger on the attack, but I thought for once we looked a little safer on the left side of our defence than the right. It made a nice change.
