I don't think he is either. He's been atrocious in his 2 appearances for us. My mate who's an Everton fan thought he was "dog ****". McLean would have done more tonight, enough said on that.
To be fair the 3-5-2 was far better than the 4-4-2 against Norwich as soon as we went to 4-4-2 we lost our foothole in the game and couldn't get it back so i could quite easily see why he went with 3-5-2. We just need some creativity in that final third, and that bit of magic. It looks a if we haven't gelled in the opponents half and we are a lot of individuals. Yet again i would say we have some good chances that we should have taken.
I wonder how some of you are going to react when the going gets really tough.FFS get a grip, our fate is in our own hands, I still believe we are good enough to survive. Onwards and upwards.
Just got a call from my cousin who lives in London who went, and he said we were so wasteful. He said we were sloppy in possession and that we had a stone-wall penalty not given which resulted in them scoring moments later. It's quite worrying TBH. Not one League goal in 2014, and losing to teams around us. It's looking scarily similar to our 2008/09 Season. Brilliant, strong beginning followed by a weak 2nd half showing. Keep going at this rate, and we're in massive trouble. Crystal Palace have just taken 6 points off us, without us scoring a single goal. **** SAKE!
I ****ing hate how we start well and if we go behind we start changing things. By the time it's the 80th minute you have elmo pumping up cross after cross from our own ****ing half. ****ING HATE **** PALACE THEY ARE SUCH A **** CLUB. WITHOUT PULIS THEYD BE ****ED. 34% POSSESSION AT HOME ****ING TIN POT CLUB AND TEAM.
McGregor took a battering all game, but there's no excuse for kicking out the way he did at the end. Thank god we have Harper who is a competent replacement. As for the football itself, the conditions were against us from the outset. Bad weather and a poor pitch combined with a resolute, organised Palace side were always going to make life tough for us. However, with our squad we really should've had the beating of Palace. That's 1 win in the last 10 games now, 6 points from a possible 30, which is relegation form. We really need to improve if we're to avoid falling into the relegation zone come the end of the season.
oh well, not the end of the world i guess. hopefully bruce will try something else on the training ground and test out some new formations for us to play. he has to accept that in the premier league, with the players we've got, this 352 formation is not working. i will say 1 more thing though... and id love to know what the answer is... Why have we struggled to score goals for the past 3 or 4 seasons? different managers, players & formations... but the problem remains.
Ack. That wasnt a good defeat. That's 4 straight defeats and that is unacceptable at this level We battered palace and got nothing. We need a better plan b. The 5-3-2 is far too predictable.
over 6 hours without a league goal lost away consecutively to teams below us mcgregor banned 3 games spurs, sunderland away , southampton, cardiff away next 4. not saying anymore
He kicked out at the Palace player but he should have had more help from the ref earlier, doesn't make a difference to the score though or a poor performance against 11 men behind the ball, they looked like the away team. I'm so ****ing annoyed, we have to improve on Saturday. Apparently we have never won a PL game In January, can't remember where I read that, but these are the games that's going to define our season not Liverpool, Man Utd & Spurs etc.
FFS.... Forget the artificial 10th. We are in a battle and as long as we stay at 17 or higher, then that's all that matters
I was hoping we would be 3-0 down within 10 minutes so I could go to bed early and catch up on sleep from the weekend, but no the torment had to last all match just on the off-chance we would score. No cutting edge, we lacked ideas. I thought Bruce was disappointing in defence, Huddlestone fairly anonymous and McGregor's kicking not to his standard. The referee was correct with the sending off and not giving us a penalty. I think Jelavic will come good, still lacking sharpness.
I honestly believe that the only player that suits 3-5-2 is Bruce, potentially Elmohamady and Brady when he's fit. Our midfield NEVER controls the game when we play it, despite the fact we have the extra midfielder. 6 wins this season... 5 of them I believe were playing 4 at the back. Sunderland and Cardiff are looking like must win games.
Im not sure i agree with the people saying the formation isnt working.....we created enough chances today, it was poor finishing that cost us. I dont think the formation had anything to with our defeat. If we took 2 of our numerous chances we would have won 2-1 and no one would have been complaining. Similarly in the norwich game, we were much the better team when we played 352 and created a fair few chances. Chester got injured, we went to 442 and then we created absolutely nothing for the rest of the game.
