Also missed Wilshere and Ramsey badly. We looked hopeless without a proper CM, especially in that first half. Ozil as an AM drifts everywhere, so you need a Ramsey or a Wilshere to set the play from a deeper position. Arteta is so tediously slow on the ball at times.
That was not very good at all Arsenal. I think it is 2 points that they will regret dropping at the end of the season.
I still feel Arteta and Ramsey is our best CM pairing, one problem is Arsene keeps rushing Arteta back too quickly
Should just have used Ox there from the get go. Arteta and Flamini together provided ZERO runs in behind or runs through the middle and Gnabry and Santi aren't the most penetrative wingers.
I'd like to see where in the rules that is stated, but I think I am arguing a lost point and agree it was silly. FA rules state a red card is: Sending-off offences A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences: serious foul play violent conduct spitting at an opponent or any other person denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area) denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures receiving a second caution in the same match Read more at http://www.thefa.com/football-rules...fouls-and-misconduct.aspx#4F6ckprleAmyVtCp.99 I don't see anywhere there that a 2 footed challenge that won the ball and didn't touch the opponent falls under these categories. Maybe the FA should update their rules? Either way, a point away to S'oton with a weak team playing badly isn't the end of the World.
only good news is that wenger will not be tempted playing two def mid against united or liverpool.....
Also Arteta's passing in the first half was woeful, better in the second half but very slow on the ball and no real penetration from him. We really lacked a runner in the middle forcing the oppo back into their own half and with two deep lying midfielders we just invited pressure into the middle, soton's CMs were allowed time and again to feed the ball out wide and stretch us all over the place at the back.
I'm not trying to excuse a piss poor performance but it makes you think did the late arrival at the stadium affect our preparation for the game <desperately clutchingatstraws>
Maybe I can't read it properly, I don't see it saying that. We have all seen tackles, 1 footed or 2 that can be deemed 'serious foul play'; **** me Shawcross every other week for example, but it is in the interpretation. His feet were not raised, nor did he get close to making contact in a dangerous way in my opinion.
Sounds like you're desperately clutching at straws and trying to excuse a piss poor performance to me.
Here is the Fifa definition- Any player who lunges at an opponent when challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force and endangering the safety of an opponent, is guilty of serious foul play
My Ratings (having only watched on web stream); Chesney - 7 Sagna - 6 Mert - 6 Kos - 6 Monreal - 2 Arteta - 3 Flamini - 5 Ozil - 7 Caz - 5 Gnarbry - 3 Giroud - 5
