Nah - we were pretty average, but considering that and how hard and well Southampton were pressing, together with them getting all the calls, and they are only 1 up, not good for them. Going to really hard for them second half. Referee is going to be making make up calls for everything he sees he missed during half time and they are going to start to get tired. Long way to go yet.
Maybe go with one holding midfielder and move Cazorla to the middle as you say. Mertesacker was the only player to create a chance in that entire first half. That is stunning! Our creative players have been anonymous. Time to turn this around. I hope, and believe we can.
To be fair we deserved to be 3 - 0 down after that shocking first half display.. absolutely played off the park in evry position.. sort it out!
you have played terrible, only made one chance on target but you are only 1 down. they have worked very hard and will tire, can't see anything other than a win for you tbh...3-1 imo
Welp we got away with murder, so being 1 nil down about the best place to start over from in the second half.
There's no saying what the ref might or might not do, but I do agree that Southampton have done well and only have a slender lead for all of their possession and pressing. My hope is that I cannot see us being that bad in the second half and that we'll actually give them a game when we come out. I think we need to make some changes though, the Arteta-Flamini central pairing is just too defensive and there is no link up play with Giroud whatsoever.
I'm not sure who is linking the play from defence to attack. When Wilshere plays he carries the ball through midfield, today we have had nothing. We need more players higher up the pitch.
