Not great had no winners, Should of had the Hannon 2 year old in the 2nd last, but stupidly backed the American horse, because he won by 7 lenghs last time. Left before the last to avoid the traffic. How was your day? Hope you had a few winners. I didn't back him but I was realy dissapointed in So You Think, they did pull well clear of the 3rd and Rewildings form does suggest he needs to be fresh so perhaps he is just top draw aswell, but with all the hype and his wins in Ireland I thought he would see off that field. Either way if we lost an Arc contender in So You Think, we gained one in Rewilding. Al Zarooni has proven once again what a fantastic trainer he is. Surely SBS is not going to be number 1 for godolphin for much longer
So you Think was such a silly price down to mr hyperbole himself O'Brien...then he comes out and says that he wasn't fit enough on the big day Got to hand it to him though, he never has a horse whose not 'lovely' or 'real athletic' or 'quality'
yea he ran a blinder today, enjoyed it. I think it took abit longer than ryan would have like to settle SYT, Jan Vermeer took his time to pace the race. but great ride from frankie, would have liked to see twice over done bit better!!
Oh yes I forgot 'they do everything so easy, you know' And they all 'have the speed to win a July Cup' LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN ....
I can just picture all the Aussie racing fans sitting up half the night. Mean isn't it? But I detest the Assies From a sporting point of view that is, sorry Cyc
Ofcourse Im messing Beef, both my parents are Irish. Yes that is one of AOBs favourite compliments, George Washington was the one he used the July Cup boast on, though I do genuinely thing GW would of been there or there abouts in a July Cup if he was on form
Speaking of Aussies (sorry Cyc) what was it his former trainer Bart Cummings came out with 'racing over there's not worth two bob'?!! Slightly arrogant I thought, but then pride does come before a fall! Speaking of jesting Shergy I wonder where you're old bud Limestone Lad is now, you two used to brighten up 606, a bit like our very own version of Morecambe and Wise I wouldn't be surprised at all should he be 'looking on' or he may even be amongst us...!
Bart Cummings is a total fanny, the best horse he has ever trained got his comeuppance today, well Bert Cumnings did anyways, have nothing against the horse. I traced down Limestone and delt with him, his body is under my floor boards, whooooo
AOB says "Listen" almost before he opens his mouth. The "Why" was me butting in before he says anything else.
I hold my hands up and admit i was totally wrong about Rewilding. Didn't think he was classy enough or possessed enough speed to win today. Cracking race between 2 very good horses.
I had faith on him, watched him at goodwood was on another level that day, plus had a good run in the derby! when he went one on one with syt I did think he was in trouble due to shere speed had no doubt about distance, but SYT just couldnt last the distance, same I reckon with *** tomorrow!
I know it is easy to say now but Rewildng was very rangy last year and always looked the type to be a better four year old. But I was very disappointed with his Leger run and at the time did not believe he had simply not stayed. But he is the real deal this year. The first 2 finished well clear and I do not think the Aussie horse lost that much in defeat, especially as he set out to win the race the hard way. But the main thing is it was another fantastic horse race. This race and the CC/Goldi duel are two best flat races I have seen for some years.
I think the key to Rewilding is he must be fresh, all his best runs have come when fresh, and his defeats have come when he has been forced into action again after a short break. He ram at Goodwood 3 weeks before the Derby, maybe if he had gone there fresh Workforce would of had a serious challenger. Rewilding has every chance to win more G1s, he has thrown his hat into the ring for the Arc., and I wouldn't be suprised to see him win. His form in Dubai looked good, and his run today proved he's a class act
