No, you have to select to play the wild card SD. If you've not used your January one already, it should be located in the centre of your screen on the "Transfers" page above your bank balance, once you make say four or five transfers, before you hit confirm, click the "wildcard" button and you'll notice any points you were due to lose will disappear.
Not sure if SOS mentioned this but if you don't use it this week its gone, you won't get another one so even if its to make three transfers you may aswell use your wildcard.

My mate actually started to do that once he got a bit of a lead on me this season, for about 5 weeks he copied my exact team so I couldn't catch him but luckily the last few weeks he's not changed things around and has 3 or 4 injuries so I'm hoping to close the gap.
Absolute ****ing sods law. When I was changing my team around last night I initially put Sturridge and Fonte into my team but then decided I wasn't happy and changed it again.
Looking at the points, Sturridge's miss cost me 12 points - 2 lost for missed pen, 4 for the goal he would have scored and doubled as my Captain. You expect more from your Captain , no responsibility
I have Suarez as captain so I think I got 16 points which was good. Mata got an assist on his debut too which was nice for me . Sagna and Shaw also got 4 points each so I presume they had assists in their games too(?). Wasn't a bad night overall for me in fairness, just gutted I took Sturridge out after putting him in.
