I'd go so far as to say the best chance we have of holding onto Lallana is by buying talented midfielders for him to play with. The most compelling argument for him staying is our ambition.

That could happen, assuming that Davis/JWP play that spot because we have no one better. As opposed to them playing that spot because they stay back a little more and it gives us a different option.

No, he really doesn't. He lines up there, but he doesn't play there. He has more of a "free role." For that matter, Rodriguez sort of does as well. But I think that Banega's playing style and strengths are similar to Lallana's. If you played both Banega and Lallana at once you'd have to give them more rigid roles which IMO would make both less effective.

Not all the time, but I've heard that he does spend much of his time there, making Messi look sh*te.**

    Vin

** According to the same sources at other times he does the same on the left.

Each time you've posted this I've responded saying no-one mentions Banega and Adam in the same sentence.

Or you just made up the replacing Adam thing as no-one said it or inferred it. Nothing wrong with saying "sorry I misunderstood that" rather than saying that everyone wants Adam out.

is That value for money in a swap deal I wonder! Would like to think if this is on the cards we could re-coup some money back too!

I really doubt it. Vucinic is a better player than Osvaldo and I can't see him making the step down. Aren't Arsenal meant to be interested?

21 goals in 71 appearances and can play anywhere across the front.

No, they don't. Which is why I feel the need to put 2 and 2 together for them. :D

Banega sort of combines the playing style of Gaston Ramirez with the attitude of Osvaldo, which makes him a difficult fit for the club on two levels. I don't think Ramirez is a bad player or a lazy player but for whatever reason, his playing style doesn't mesh with Lallana and Rodriguez. And then you throw in Benega's questionable attitude on top of that.

He's having a terrible year for Valencia and ended up on the bench until Pizzi took over and gave him a chance and he's been bad under Pizzi as well. The role people think he can play at Saints is the same role he's now been tasked to do at Valencia and is failing at. He was better when played deeper.

It would be a gamble, even if he could be convinced to come. He's a lovely player but he's the wrong side of 30 now and if he fails to settle as well it's unlikely we'd be able to recoup much.

And he's not much of a goalscorer, most of our fans seem unable to appreciate attackers unless they're banging them in.

Banega needs a move is all, he just needs a change of scenery. He has a temper yes but no way as bad as Osvaldo.

When on form he is great at link up play, tackling and is good at long shots. He has just been at Valencia too long and things have become stagnant

No idea where we'd play Vucinic if we had him. He basically does Jay Rod's job.
