GM Food is like any other science. Only worthy if used by moral people with good intentions. Not horrible scum like Monsanto http://www.responsibletechnology.or...ngineered-Crops-May-Cause-Disease-August-2006
If you believe that then you're even dumber than I thought you were. And you're Irish so you're at a major disadvantage in the intelligence stakes to start with.
I've been patiently waiting for you please log in to view this image You should know more about this than me, it's your job apparently - but in the past you haven't put forward arguments to the contrary, you just keep calling people stupid and mentioning you have a degree.
What a pile of ****e you speak ST. Uncontrolled/Poorly controlled GM crops can cause devastation to non-GM crops. Especially in places where GM crops are grown nearby non-GM crops with similar genetic make-up. That's not even mentioning the potential negative health effects to animal life.
Didn't you say you worked in some sort of environmental agency (or something) after you went off on one when I suggested organic foods can **** off? (Alzheimers for everyone, is what I say http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/n...alzheimers-link-to-ddt-exposure-29955053.html ) Anyway yes you may have a point about them being sold to manufacturers to use in ****e food like Pot Noddles - but then again isn't there the possibility that if managed correctly we could fill Pot Noodles full of cheap mass produced ingredients that are actually healthy, without taking away from the cheap plastic taste we all know and love?
You misunderstood what I said, got a bit of a stiffy and prematurely ejaculated (metaphorically and literally) over your laptop screen.
ST, all modern agricultural practices potentially cause severe damage to the environment. GM crops can be more severe, due to their more intensive demand on the soil nutrients, soil compaction and for the increased quantities of chemical inputs which can work their way into water supplies including groundwater. The impact on surface water and starvation of oxygen in water bodies by eutrophication can be particularly devastating for wildlife. Let me know if you're still struggling with the details and I'll draw some pictures for you
Is there some sort of collective stupidity on here today? I know about the dangers of GM crops. I studied them for long enough. What I said is I wouldn't be against them IF such crops were produced that "do not harm to the environment". In other words, I'm NOT in favour of current GM crops.
Where to start? Am I for GM foods? No. Do I believe everything you said? No. For instance - not all modern agricultural practices are detrimental to the environment. You will find plenty of people who work outdoors that take steps in minimising, if not eliminating any need for causing stress to the environment they work in. In fact, I'd argue that the modern techniques are the ones designed to minimize environmental impact.
Could be. Wont be. They said the same thing about mushroom-based food in the 70s and I don't see a world filling it's face with Quorn sausages.
