I've given up on catching Boss, he's way too far ahead now. My hopes were scuppered by three poor game weeks in a row over the xmas/new year period caused by hanging on to injured players like Ramsey and Rooney for too long, and that bastard Negredo who stopped scoring as soon as I bought him.

That's the problem I have with fantasy football, it distorts your view of real life football a bit. There's a conflict between not wanting to see certain teams or players do well and needing them to if you're going to score points... and it can take a small amount of the enjoyment out of seeing a rival lose when you've got in the back of your mind that you had one of their players as captain that week :(

!LOL mate don't give up! I'll admit I'm having a good season but remember all it takes is a bad couple of weeks and I can be caught.

Of course I'll be doing all I can to make sure it doesn't happen but I wouldn't give up as I'm deluded enough to believe I can win the entire thing, even if the odds are heavily stacked agaisnt me!

Oh I'll keep trying, I have better chances in my other leagues :) But realistically at this stage 150 points is a massive lead, and since many of the top teams now have same-ish line ups it's harder to make big gains.

For example, when I bought Adebayor last week I thought probably not many people here would have him given all the flak he gets, then he turns up in 4 out of the top 6 teams! <laugh>

It is tricky to catch people as most seem to have same players which are Coleman, Toure, Hazard and Suarez but some go with lallana or Cabaye. I've got Adebayor and Lakaku and others have Negredo and Giroud so when one week you make up ground, you lose it the following!

Merseyside derby next week and I've got Gerrard and Suarez and Coleman and Lakaku. Will it be another high scoring Derby or a tight one? Don't want to drop Lakaku incase!

I can safely say I've never given it that much thought. It's more "oh he hasn't got me many points lately, who else do I like?". I feel cheated on Lallana and Coleman as I had them both last season, like way before it was cool to pick them :D

Going to take out Lukkaku soon, might be time for the return of Benteke to my side!

I never played newspaper fantasy, but I used love the Yahoo version from 10-15 years ago. That was a more interesting game imo, players got extra points for stats like tackles, completed passes, shots on target etc, which was a fairer reflection than just the simple goals/assists/clean sheets.

And the transfers worked differently, you could make more than one every week. I'd much prefer if this game allowed two transfers per week, often you want to swap two players for one expensive and one cheaper one, and you can only do that every two weeks here without losing points.

I've noticed! It's going to be close for the runners up places. Bit like the league last season with Boss being ManU :p

If you like that type of game try the Metro one next year as it's based around opta stats so you get points for tackles made, passes completed etc.

And you get one transfer every week.

..... Don't mind being Fergies Utd. Just not Keegans Newcastle!

I have a 298 point gap to catch Boss on. With 16 games left, I have to ensure that I beat Boss by 18.625 points each work to make sure I can go level with him.

    Definitely do-able. <laugh>

EDIT: Initially wrote 22 games left (which is games played), 16 left <ok>

Just in case some don't know, you can use a wild card for the January window (doesn't affect the one you can use at any other point during the season) <ok>

Does anyone know if Negredo will be fit? He's marked as doubtful.

Also the same for Seamus Coleman?

Tempted to make Adebayor captain but I'll stick with goofy!

I've now the two most vile individuals in my team, Terry and Suarez. No shame in picking them!

There will be some players who gave a great second half to the sense, could be Mata, Johnson and Carzola.

Coleman is unlikely, I've benched him.
