Especially when we have Watt, who is younger & has more potential. He can cut it in Scotland, is not fazed by the big stage, is performing well presently in a league in a completely different country and culture (where the football is of a higher standard than the English League 1 I would imagine) and despite being a moody teen gets in less trouble (he will also soon grow out of being a moody teen - Griffiths is 23). He would also cost **** all
I still think he's a decent player and i'd be happy if we signed him. There, I said it. So **** ye's.
I would be happy with Griffiths as long we bought in an attacking midfielder who can create chances. Need to start looking at keepers again soon as well, and possibly a centreback if bids come in during the summer
Chances are Forster will be sold during the summer as you say. So we should be aiming to have brought in a keeper now so he has 6 months to get to know his team mates etc (and play 5 or 6 times) so his first game is not what will be a crucial CL tie. Same could be said regarding a centre half as you say. Certainly no harm in having one in reserve if needed
Totally agree. Griffiths scored more league goals last season playing for a pisspoor Hibs side than Gary Hooper (or any other player) did for us. He scored more goals than Stokes or Samaras have in any one season in their whole careers ffs And Watt has done very little except score one very famous goal. And had numerous tantrums in Belgium. Not a reason to bin him but equally not any reason for having particularly high hopes either.
Don't remember Tony Watt telling people to "**** off back to your own country" or fighting ****s in the street.
The problem I have is we've bought forwards on the strength of number of goals scored in the SPL for other teams (Riordan, Stokes etc.) and they've turned out to be pish.
Or Killen who never even scored a great deal at SPL level but we signed him anyway McDonald was prolific for us, on the other hand.
There are plenty of strikers out there who scored 25+ goals for better teams than Hibs in better leagues than Scotland. Doesn't mean they should be signed for Celtic. I'm no having this "He'll learn" pish. Leopards don't change their spots and dumb schemies will always act like dumb schemies, regardless of the situation.
Apart from his final season when the goals dried up and we handed the title to the now defunct, sadly no more Huns Original XI.
Still scored some big goals for us that year - winner at Ibrox against the defunct lot (that victory landed us with Willow Flood in the January Window as the board considered the league wrapped up), scored against Man Utd too. His goals drying up was more down to the fact that the team as a whole became lethargic and stale that year.
