Read it earlier today Suffolk, and although a lot of fans won´t like it, or accept it, that is how life is for us, and a dozen or so more teams in the PL, made that way by the obscene amounts of money being splashed around. As far as I´m concerned the Premier League in the pre-Murdoch days was a far more enjoyable and entertaining environment, with a much more level playing field, and the only way we can even hope to get back to anything like those days, is if the top 5 or 6, bugger off and join a Europa League, and leave the rest of us to fight it out with each other.
The sooner they sort out the ridiculous nature of the Premier League, the better. It's clear it can't carry on like this. Just a shame that the people in control are only looking to fill their pockets and don't actually care about how things go for the rest.
But you think things are bad here, at least we're not in La Liga where there's two teams probably earning more than the rest put together, or the Eredivisie where each summer every promising player seems to get poached, resulting in another rebuild from the youth team. The Premier League may have plenty of faults, but it could be a lot worse!
The implications of the Premier League for our club and clubs like us were very clearly spelt out to us 18 years ago. City fans didn't want to hear the message, so they shot the messenger. On present showing most of them still haven't got it.
Spot on this article,but it's no more than some of us have been saying for years. SKY TV, Sheik whoever ,Abramovich or any other oligarch have ruined English Football. I hear that Rooney is about to be offered £300K per week!!!!!! Money like this is obscene,with all the poverty that exists in this country. But as long as I and Millions like me keep paying SKY £70 a month and Carrow Rd £837.50p for my season ticket nothing will change.
Yarco - totally agree with your assessment. I'm at a COMPLETE loss to understand how one player can be worth that much per week, especially when many genuine fans earn less than 10% of that in a year!!!
Haven't you omitted to mention the REAL culprits, i.e. the big First Division clubs who forced through the breakaway Premier League to feather their own nests? Rupert Murdoch didn't set up the Premier League, he just seized a business opportunity created by the breakaway; and none of the billionaire foreign owners were involved in those days. The PL monster is home-made, created by Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Aston Villa etc.
It does make me really angry. I know that talent should be rewarded,but what about all the talented nurses,doctors, tradesmen,pensioners etc etc who struggle on and on day after day. I am about to reach 65 in March. I thought I would be able to retire,but having worked since i was 15,never been out of work, payed all my taxes etc etc,put 2 kids through Uni, I now find I have not enough to live on,and will keep working to just exist. Bring on the Revolution Brothers and Sisters
Whilst I agree with everything said here about the PL, except for two years in the early nineties it has always been a struggle for survival for City in the top league against much wealthier clubs. Many fans are too young to know or simply forget how tough it was back in the 70s and 80s as City went up then down then up then down. At least City have a chance to build a team capable of mid-table security now if we have the patience to complete the 5-year or 7-year plan that will produce the kind of football we all want. Look around at the other teams in the bottom half and realise how well run this club is by comparison. Secure and sound development is the way to future progress, not expensive and variable knee-jerk changes.

No, Rooney's worth is not measured in that way. It's measured in terms of the net benefit to the Man Utd balance sheet.
